HEPATITIS B VACCINES (HBV)
ALL athletic training majors are now required to either 1) receive the HBV
series, or 2) voluntarily decline to receive the vaccine series BEFORE WORKING
IN THE ATHLETIC TRAINING ENVIRONMENT (you may work in the athletic training
environment if you are in the middle of the vaccination series). IT IS
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU RECEIVE THE VACCINE SERIES! Declination
forms will be sent to all new athletic training students. If you choose
to receive the vaccine, that should be noted on your Manchester College Health
History Form. One of these completed forms (Health Form or Declination
Form) must be on file at Manchester College before you work in the athletic
training environment.
IMPORTANT MONEY-SAVING) NOTE: Most county health departments
will administer the HBV series FREE OF CHARGE if you begin the series before you are 18 years of age. Take advantage of this service if you can, since
the series typically costs $150.00! |
