Manchester College is fortunate to have eight certified athletic
trainers involved with athletic training education and
intercollegiate athletic coverage. Three individuals hold
full-time faculty appointments, three hold adjunct faculty
appointments, and two individuals serve as off-campus approved clinical
instructors. Through Orthopedics Northeast of Fort
Wayne, Ind., orthopedic specialists are involved in the education of Manchester's
athletic training majors.
Faculty/Athletic Training Staff
Dr.
Mark Huntington, ATC, PT, is in his 24th year as a faculty member
and athletic trainer at Manchester,
the first 17 spent as head athletic trainer. He graduated from Manchester in 1976 with a
degree in biology, received his master's degree in physical therapy from
Boston University and his doctorate in physical education administration from
Indiana University. His current responsibilities include serving as head Certified
Athletic Trainer for
volleyball, as program director for the major in athletic training, and as Professor of
Exercise and Sport Sciences. Mark is also
on the clinical physical therapy staff of the Center for Sport and Physical
Therapy in Marion, IN. Dr. Huntington is the proud father of two grown children.

Erin Foreman, MS, ATC begins her second year on the Manchester College faculty. A Gas City, IN., native, Foreman received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University and West Virginia University, respectively. In addition to her faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences, Foreman serves as the head Certified Athletic Trainer for men's soccer, women's basketball, and softball.

Jeff Beer, MS, ATC joins the Manchester College faculty in 2007-08 as Assistant Professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences and Head Athletic Trainer. Jeff served as Interim Head Athletic Trainer in 2006-07 as an employee of SportOne, Fort Wayne, IN., assigned full time to the College. Jeff received a BS in athletic training from Ball State University and an MS from Kent State University (Ohio). His clinical assignments are with football and men's basketball. Jeff and Jennifer (also a Certified Athletic Trainer) Beer and son Caleb reside in Fort Wayne.

 Zachary Dougal, MS ATC joins the athletic training staff as a full-time assignment from SportONE, Fort Wayne. Zach received degrees from Ball State and Western Michigan Universities, and will have additional responsibilities as an adjunct lecturer in the athletic training curriculum. Zach resides in Fort Wayne.

Kevin Schwartz, ATC is also assigned full-time to Manchester College from SportONE, Fort Wayne. Kevin holds an undergraduate degree from Taylor University (Upland, IN). His clinical responsibilities include cross-country, wrestling, and track & field, and he will serve as a clinical instructor in the athletic training curriculum. Kevin, his wife Elaine, daughter Alexandria and son Caleb reside in Fort Wayne.

Tara
Vogel, R.N., director of Health Services at Manchester plays an
important role in providing student athlete health care. In
cooperation with Manchester College athletic trainers, Vogel
evaluates and treats illnesses, makes referrals to team physicians,
and provides immunizations. She also serves as a guest
lecturer for several courses in the athletic training curriculum.
Tara received her nursing diploma from Community Hospital School of
Nursing in Springfield, Ohio and has worked in a variety of nursing
positions. She is an American Red Cross instructor/trainer and
is nearing completion of her master's degree in nursing. Tara
and Mike Vogel reside in North Manchester and are the proud parents
of four children.

Vogel

PHYSICIANS
Chad
Stevens, D.O. serves as a team physician and orthopaedic consultant to
the Manchester College athletic teams and also serves as medical director
for the academic program in athletic training. He is in clinical
practice at Orthopaedics Northeast, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Dr. Stephens
completed his undergraduate studies at Abilene Christian University and
received his degree in osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University. He also serves as a guest lecturer in the athletic training curriculum.
 John
Pritchard, MD serves as the team orthopedic surgeon for Manchester through
Orthopedics Northeast, Fort Wayne, Ind. Dr. Pritchard received his
undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his medical degree from
Indiana University, and completed his knee and sports medicine fellowship
at Louisiana State University. He also serves as a guest lecturer in the
athletic training curriculum.
