Going Pro ...

Manchester University is the only college or university in the state of Indiana with an undergraduate major in adapted physical education. The program is designed to lead to a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with teacher certification and a specialization working with individuals with disabilities.

GOING PRO and securing a teaching position upon graduation is excellent! Graduates of the adapted physical education program are prepared to plan and implement individualized physical education programs, assess motor skills of individuals with disabilities, and consult with physical educators.

With more than 14,000 school corporations and agencies that serve over five million students with disabilities, our graduates have been successful at securing teaching and administrative positions throughout the state and country as:

  • physical educators or adapted physical educators in public and private schools,
  • adapted physical educators in special education agencies,
  • physical education consultants and supervisors, and
  • coaches in adapted sport organizations.

In addition, our graduates are accepted into graduate school to attain their master's degree to teach in higher education settings. Click here for a brochure on careers in adapted physical education and special education.
