Lab 1, or Teaching Team Activities, is taught in the fall. This lab is designed so that every year a different sport is taught. After the third consecutive year, the first sport is taught again and the "cycle" continues. The sports that are taught in the cycle are soccer and cooperative activities, ultimate frisbee and team handball, and field hockey and volleyball.
The students begin each PEP period with a "walk and talk" activity. The students walk around the gym with their teacher and talk about events that are going on, such as school, sports, friends, family, or other events. Then PEP is officially started with a fitness activity that focuses on health related physical fitness. The students are then divided into their groups by grade levels. There are two teachers per age group that are in charge of teaching for twenty minutes a piece. The teachers then present their lesson to the anxious students who are ready to learn.
