Successful Graduates

The demand for mathematicians is growing rapidly. Opportunities include careers as an actuary, statistician, educator, industrial mathematician, and operations research specialist. Recent reports indicate that the demand for mathematicians and secondary teachers is growing by more than 10 percent annually. Applied mathematics, mathematics in education, and research mathematics are also extremely marketable fields in today's competitive marketplace. A partial list of our graduates indicates the type of opportunities that are available:

• Jody Sarber '07 will be teaching this fall at Manchester Jr/Sr High in North Manchester, Ind.
• Jarred Jagger '06 is teaching at Northfield Jr/Sr High in Wabash, Ind.
• Liz DeRyke '06 will be teaching Spanish in New York City through the Teach for America program.
• Becky Moening '05 is teaching at Woodlan Jr/Sr High, Woodburn, Ind.
• Andrew Hodges '04 is doing graduate study in bioinformatics at the University of Michigan.
• Oleg Ivashchenko '04 is doing graduate study in mathematics at the University of Delaware.
• Penny Heddings '02 went to Germany on a Fulbright Fellowship and is there still, working as an au pair in Frankfurt and playing soccer.
• Jennifer Kunkle '99 is teaching and head of the math department at Concord High School in Elkhart, Ind.
• Jennifer Bowman '98 works as an applications developer at Lincoln Financial Group in Hartford, Conn., and is completing a master's in computer science at Rensselaer.
