| Students are working with two hives of honey bees located on top of the Science Center. Their project is focused on the incidence of tracheal mites (Acarapis woodi) and varroa mites (Varroa jacobsoni) on honey bees in the area, along with measuring honey production from the two hives. |
The Department of Biology at Manchester University teaches students to understand nature through the process of inquiry and discovery. Lecture and lab courses emphasize the process of science, critical thinking, and the various themes that unify all living organisms.
Students taking courses in biology may be interested in such diverse fields as teaching, biological research, environmental studies, medical technology, medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. Through internships, research projects and close interaction with professors, students graduate well prepared to meet their future academic or career objectives.
