MUSB Executive Board 2013-2014
Katie Lowther, Assistant to the Director
Katie is a senior History major focusing on French Medieval and Tudor England. Katie has been involved with all instrumental ensembles on campus throughout her career at Manchester. Katie’s favorite ensemble to play in has been Manchester’s Pep Band, the Gold and Black Attack. Some of her most favorite experiences have been playing percussion in Carmina Burana, timpani in Rachmanioff Piano Concerto No. 2, and being selected to play in Inter-Collegiate Band.
Sara is a sophomore from Fort Wayne, Indiana but born in Morelos, Mexico. She graduated from Northside High School in 2012 and plans to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2017. Sara has been involved in the music department for almost ten years in a variety of bands. She was involved in marching band for six years and her senior year was one of the drum majors for the marching band at North side. Although Sara does not plan to have a career in the music she still loves to play and hopes she will continue even after graduating.
Mackenzi Lowry, Vice-President
MacKenzi is a sophomore from Walkerton, Indiana. MacKenzi graduated from John Glenn High School in 2012, and plans on graduating from Manchester University with a B.A. in Music Education in 2016. She has been playing music for over 10 years with a variety of different ensembles from Indiana. MacKenzi is currently apart of MUSB, MSO, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo. In addition to her position as Vice President of the MUSB, she is also the Student Vice President of the Manchester Symphonic Orchestra, and Percussion section leader. She also is Manchester High School's percussion instructor, under Mr. Jeff Huber respectively.
A Fort Wayne, IN native, Chris Hartman is a sophomore at Manchester University currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Music in Applied Trombone, with a minor in Piano Performance. In addition to his position as Personnel Officer of the MUSB, he is also the Student President of the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, as well as Assistant to Acting Music Department Chair Dr. Timothy Reed. Mr. Hartman has performed with a wide variety of instrumental ensembles in northern Indiana. He also teaches instrumental music and marching band technique at both Columbia City High School and Heritage Jr./Sr. High School, under Helen Hockemeyer and Jim Widmer respectively.
Michael Painter, Public Relations
Michael is a communications major in his senior year. He has been involved with the Symphonic Band for 4 years, and the Manchester Symphony Orchestra for two. He hopes to get a job in the fields of radio or public relations. He enjoys reading, a variety of musical tastes, and a fondness for long walks of thought and contemplation.
Brandon Haines, Operations Officer
I am from Bourbon, IN and went to Triton Jr. Sr. High School. I am a senior Social Work student with a Criminal Justice minor. I have been in symphonic band all four years of my college career. I am the manager of operations for the symphonic band and have been for the last 2 years. I have been playing trumpet for the past 11 years, played baritone for a year, was in choir and show choir (all in high school). I was involved in marching band, participated in ISMA 4 years as a soloist as well as in ensemble for both band and choir.
