Department of Psychology

Welcome

Psychology is the science of the mind and behavior. Manchester College offers the baccalaureate degree in psychology, preparing students for graduate study or a variety of career opportunities. The curriculum concentrates on the normal course of human development. Courses emphasize the impact of environmental context on the behavior of individuals.

The goals of the department are to assist students in:

  • understanding the basic concepts and methods used in psychology.
  • appreciating the relation of psychology to other disciplines, particularly those in the behavioral sciences.
  • preparing for graduate work in psychology.
  • preparing for professional training in such fields as social work, medicine, and education.
