Department of English

All Manchester University English graduates share one trait: they are prepared. Whether they teach, enter the business world, or attend law or graduate schools, Manchester English majors leave college ready to meet new opportunities and to face diverse challenges.

Students can choose to major in English with concentrations in literature, language or writing, or can prepare to teach English in the public schools. Majors with a concentration in language are prepared to teach English to speakers of other languages.

NEW! Libraries and Literacies Certificate Program

With its emphasis on book culture, both paper and digital, this certificate will help prepare students for graduate study or for work in libraries, museums, and archives, etc. Click here for more information.
