Dr. Mary Lahman |
Dr. Mary Lahman strives to engage the inquisitive spirits of her students. She encourages students to give voice to and make sense of their “little” stories—their own experiences—in light of the communication discipline’s “big” stories—knowledge and theory presented in the classroom. Students in her advanced public relations class agree that they learn the most from the problem-based learning methods she uses to teach this class; Dr. Lahman serves as a “guide on the side” as students research local issues, build client relationship, figure budgets, and meet deadlines. She is a 1983 graduate of Manchester College and holds advanced degrees from Miami University of Ohio and Indiana University. |

Dr. Marcia Benjamin |
Dr. Benjamin is known for her high energy, fun filled and challenging classes that make communication theories and concepts come alive. Students comment that her classes are the “best” because she challenges them and makes them push themselves. Dr. Benjamin personalizes classes, offers individual advice and guidance, and celebrates successes with students; she teaches concepts and skills that students can use in their future careers. Students complete a communication assessment of an organization in her organizational communication course, and give communication workshops in her small group communication course. She graduated from Manchester in 1978 and holds advanced degrees from Ohio University and Purdue University. |

Judd Case |
Judd Case specializes in media studies, and teaches courses in media literacy, new media, telecommunications, guerrilla journalism, and TV criticism. He is an active researcher who has recently presented papers on guerrilla journalism and the broadcasting of ritual performance. His almost-complete dissertation at the University of Iowa explores radar as a medium that prefigures the “situation rooms” of today’s newscasts. He is an enthusiastic teacher who is eager to help students prepare, present, and publish their own work. |

Dr. Scott Strode teaches all of the theatre courses at Manchester College. He infuses his teaching with his academic training and his professional experiences. He has acted professionally in summer stock, served as an assistant director for prominent repertory theatre companies, and directed internationally. He has advanced degrees from the University of Washington and Indiana University. His excitement about all aspects of theatre and his devotion to the value of theatre are evident in the classroom. |

Dr. David Switzer |
Dave Switzer teaches research methods, applied communication, communication ethics, and communication foundations. In 35 years of graduate and undergraduate teaching at SUNY-Albany and IPFW, Switzer (Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1974) has published in Communication, Monographs, Management Communication Quarterly, Communication Quarterly and other sources. Also, he has written proprietary communication consulting monographs and a book chapter about communicating the national pastime. Typically, his office is alive with conversations about communication, curve balls, capellini, and Emily and Elijah. |
