Al taught at Manchester from 1959 to 2000, and during this time served as the BCA director as well as the Peace Studies director. After his retirement, he continued teaching two of his favorite courses (on Asian religions) for many years.

Professor Rogers began teaching at Manchester College in 1979. After 30 years, Kendall accepted a position as Professor of Historical Studies at Bethany Theological Seminary, beginning with the 2008/09 academic year.
