2.6.10 - MEN'S BASKETBALL PICKS UP 65-54 WIN OVER ROSE-HULMAN
Manchester's men's basketball team posted a 65-54 win over Rose-Hulman on Saturday to improve to 13-8 on the season.

Manchester led 31-30 at the half and outscored Rose 34-24 in the second half after shooting 11-20 from the floor to pick up the 65-54 win.

Tyler Henn led the way with 18 points, hitting 7-11 shots from the field and added three rebounds and an assist. Tyler Delauder was 4-5 from the field and 3-3 at the free throw line for 12 points. Nathan Ferch chipped in nine points to go with his seven rebounds, while Jordan Moss added seven assists and six rebounds.

Manchester moves to 13-8 on the year, 7-5 in the HCAC. They travel to Bluffton on Wednesday.

2.3.10 - MANCHESTER DROPS 70-59 CONTEST TO DEFIANCE

The Manchester men's basketball team fell to Defiance 70-59 at home on Wednesday. Both teams went into the half tied at 37-37, and at 41-41 early in the second half, Defiance went on a 9-0 run to take a 50-41 lead and held on for the 70-59 win after holding MC to 28 percent field goal shooting in the second half.

Tyler Henn and J.T. Hooks led Manchester with 11 points. Hooks was 4-7 from the floor and added five rebounds, while Henn had seven rebounds and a steal. Nathan Ferch added 10 points on 5-8 shooting and had five points and a pair of assists. Tyler Delauder was 3-4 from behind the arc for nine points.

Manchester falls to 12-8 overall, 6-5 in the HCAC. They play the tail end of a doubleheader scheduled for 5 p.m. at Rose-Hulman on Saturday.

1.30.10 - SPARTANS SNAP TWO GAME SKID WITH A 91-76 WIN OVER MOUNT ST. JOSEPH

Manchester's men's team picked up a 91-76 win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, snapping two straight conference losses. Manchester took a 36-34 lead into the half after jumping to a 21-12 lead to start the game. MC broke a 69-69 tie at the 6:49 mark with an 18-2 run to take an 87-71 lead with 2:27 remaining to pick up the win.

Mitch Schaefer led MC with 27 points, hitting 5-8 three point attempts and 6-6 free throws. Jordan Moss added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Tyler Henn added 11 points, five rebounds and four steals. Brandon Kinsey added 10 points, hitting 3-3 field goals, including two three pointers and a both free throw attempts.

Manchester improves to 12-7 overall, 6-4 in the conference. Manchester hosts Defiance in the tail end of a doubleheader on Wednesday with an 8 p.m. scheduled start.

1.23.10 - HANOVER DEFEATS MANCHESTER 81-63
Hanover College jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead to start the game and took a 43-26 lead into the half as they posted an 81-63 conference win over Manchester on Saturday.

Nathan Ferch led Manchester wtih 12 points, hitting 4-6 shots from the field and added three rebounds and two assists. Mitch Schaefer added 10 points and a steal. Jordan Moss had eight points and eight rebounds, hitting 4-7 shots from the floor.


Manchester falls to 11-7 overall, 5-4 in the HCAC. They resume action at home on Saturday, January 30th as they host Mount St. Joseph starting at 5 p.m.

1.20.10 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO ANDERSON 77-75
Manchester's men's team fell to Anderson 77-75, as Anderson came into Wednesday's contest ranked 14th in the nation.
Manchester led 41-40 at the half, hitting 57 percent from the floor on 16-28 shooting. Despite missing just four free throws all game, two critical free throws came with five seconds remaining as the Spartans trailed 76-75.

Nathan Ferch had 15 points to lead Manchester, hitting 7-11 shots from the floor. He added six rebounds for MC. Jason Spindler and Jordan Moss added 10 points each, with Moss adding seven rebounds and five assists and Spindler adding four rebounds, two assist and a pair of blocked shots.

Manchester falls to 11-6 overall, 5-3 in the HCAC. They travel to Hanover on Saturday.

1.16.10 - MANCHESTER EDGES OUT TRANSYLVANIA 68-64
Manchester's men's team picked up a 68-64 win at home over Transylvania on Saturday. Manchester trailed 28-22 at the half, and trailed by as many as nine points in the second half before two straight three pointers from freshman Brandon Kinsey cut the Transy lead to 50-47 with 7:38 remaining. The Pioneers went ahead 61-54 with just under three minutes remaining, but Tyler Henn scored four straight points and Mitch Schaefer added a field goal to make it a 61-60 contest with 35 seconds remaining. Jordan Moss's three-point play with with 23 seconds left game MC a one-point lead and eventually the 68-64 win.

Tyler Henn led the Spartans with 21 points, hitting 8-11 shots from the floor and 5-6 free throws. He also had six rebounds. Moss added 14 points, hitting 4-5 field goals and 6-9 free throw attempts.

Manchester moves to 11-5 overall, 5-2 in the HCAC. They return to action Wednesday at home against league-leading Anderson University starting at 7:30 p.m.

1.13.10-WIN OVER BLUFFTON
Manchester's men's basketball team picked up a 70-61 win over Bluffton on Wednesday. Manchester, currently ranked ninth in the nation in field goal shooting and second in three-point field goal percentage, hit 51% of their field goals in the game, taking a 35-30 lead into the half and outscoring Bluffton 35-31 in the second half to pick up the win.

Mitch Schaefer was 5-10 from behind the arc for a team high 17 points. He added four rebounds, one assist and a steal in the win. Jordan Moss added 15 points, hitting 9-10 free throws with six rebounds and a pair of steals to his credits. Nathan Ferch and Jason Spindler combined for 8-10 shooting for nine points each.

Manchester improves to 10-5 overall, 4-2 in the HCAC. They host Transylvania on Saturday starting at 8 p.m.

1.9.10 - MANCHESTER PICKS UP 6 3-51 WIN OVER FRANKLIN

Manchester's men's basketball team picked up a 63-51 win over Franklin on Saturday. Manchester and Franklin took a 25-25 tie into the half, but in the second stanza, Manchester shot 63 percent from the floor to outscore the Grizzlies 38-26, including an 11-2 run early in the half.

Nathan Ferch led the Spartans with 16 points, hitting 6-7 shots from the floor and 4-4 free throws. he also had six rebounds, an assist, steal and blocked shot. Tyler Henn added 11 points and three steals, hitting 4-6 shots from the floor to go with his four rebounds. Jason Spindler had five points, five rebounds and three blocked shots for MC in the win.

Manchester improves to 9-5 overall, 3-2 in the HCAC. They return home on Wednesday as they host Bluffton for a 7:30 p.m. start. Join WBKE radio and the Manchester College video stream for all of your home Spartan action.

1.3.10 - MANCHESTER GETS 73-59 WIN OVER ROSE-HULMAN

Manchester's men's basketball team moved to 2-2 in the conference standings following a 73-59 win over Rose-Hulman on Sunday.

Manchester held a 28-25 lead at the half, and Rose held a 45-39 lead with 12:43 left in the second half before Manchester went on a 27-8 run to take a 66-53 lead with 3:21 remaining in the contest. Manchester shot 63 percent from the floor in the second half and 57 percent from behind the arc to outscore Rose-Hulman 45-34.

Mitch Schaefer hit 4-5 three pointers and led Manchester with 14 points. Tyler Henn had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Delauder and Jordan Moss added eight points each on a combined 7-9 shooting from the floor.

Manchester improves to 8-5 overall, 2-2 in the HCAC. They resume action Saturday at Franklin following women's basketball action, which starts at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m.

12.31.09 - BALL STATES PICKS UP 69-55 WIN OVER MC
Manchester fell to Ball State 69-55 in men's basketball action on Thursday. Manchester tied the game at 20-20 with 9:18 remaining in the first half following a Matt Morris jumper, but Ball St. went on a 13-3 run to take a 33-23 lead with 3:59 left in the first half, and took a 42-29 lead at the break.

The Cardinals jumped to a 53-31 lead early in the second half, but Manchester responded with a 12-0 run to cut the BSU lead to 10, 53-43 with just under 10 minutes to go in the game. MC got as close as nine points before settling for the 69-55 loss.

Tyler Delauder led Manchester with 14 points, hitting 4-6 three pointers while Mitch Schaefer added 10 points, hitting 4-8 shots from the floor. Nathan Ferch had nine points on 4-6 shooting and added four rebounds.

Manchester moves to 7-5 overall and re turns to action Sunday as they host Rose-Hulman in HCAC league action starting at 4 p.m., following the women's basketball contest starting at 2 p.m.

12.30.09 - MANCHESTER POSTS 88-75 WIN OVER HOWARD PAYNE

Manchester picked up their second straight win on Wednesday as they defeated Howard Payne 88-75. The Spartans jumped out to a 42-33 lead at the half, and outscored the Yellow Jackets 46-42 in the second half to pick up the win.

Mitch Schaefer hit 6-12 shots from the floor for 17 points, and added six rebounds. NAthan Ferch added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Jordan Moss added 11 points. Matt Morris, Tyler Delauder and J.T. Hooks had 10 points each, with Morris adding nine rebounds.

Manchester improves to 7-4 on the year, and travels to Ball State on Thursday for a 4 p.m. contest, and returns home Sunday to host Rose-Hulman in conference action with a 4 p.m. tipoff.

Head Coach Brad Nadborne, in his sixth year at Manchester, leads a program that has gained both conference and national recognition. Before coming to Manchester College, Nadborne served three seasons as an assistant coach at DePauw University, with a one-year stint at the University of Wisconsin/LaCrosse as the interim head coach. He spent five seasons as a graduate and head assistant coach at Cornell University, and two years as the head recruiter for the University of Colorado.
  • Manchester College is the only school in the HCAC to play in a national championship, finishing runner-up in 1995 under then Head Coach Steve Alford.
  • Sophomores Nathan Ferch and Tyler Henn were named honorable mention All-Conference, along with first year player Jason Spindler.
