8.2.10 - BASKETBALL TO HOLD FREE SKILLS CLINIC AT FUNFEST

The Manchester College men's basketball team will hold a free skills clinic from 9 - 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13 for boys and girls in grades 3-8.

The clinic will take place in downtown North Manchester on the corner of Market and Main, and is in conjunction with the town's annual FunFest events.

7.8.10 - SPARTAN MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM TO FACE FORMER COACH STEVE ALFORD'S NEW MEXICO SQUAD IN EXHIBITION GAME
Manchester's men’s basketball team will be traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico for an exhibition game against the University of New Mexico Lobos on Saturday, November 6th.  The Lobos are lead by former Manchester College Coach Steve Alford.  Last year, New Mexico went 30-5 and were a three seed in the NCAA Tournament.  Manchester finished their season 17-10, with a loss in the semi-finals of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.  The Spartans return their top seven players from last season.

2.26.10 - ANDERSON TOPS MANCHESTER 64-63 IN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINAL
Anderson's Andrew Jones connected on the game winning layup with 11 seconds remaining as Anderson defeated Manchester 64-63 in the semi-final round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, hosted by Anderson.

The Ravens jumped out to a 20-10 lead to start the game, but MC rallied with a 9-0 run to make it 20-19 midway through the first half, and trailed 34-32 at the break. Manchester took its first lead of the game 50-49 with 11 minutes to go following a Peter Krill basket. Tyler Henn's field goal with 1:53 remaining gave the Spartans a 63-62 lead, setting up Anderson's game winner with 11 seconds remaining.

Jason Spindler ended the game with 14 points, hitting 6-7 field goals and added six rebounds. Jordan Moss added 13 points and eight rebounds with three assists and a steal. Tyler Henn and Mitch Schaefer scored eight points each.

Manchester finishes the season 17-10 overall.

2.23.10 - MANCHESTER POSTS 64-57 WIN OVER TRANSY TO ADVANCE TO HCAC SEMI-FINAL ON FRIDAY
Mitch Schaefer scored 17 of his 20 points in the first half as Manchester defeated Transylvania 64-57 in Tuesday night's opening game of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The Spartans used 4-5 free throw shooting in the first half to take a 33-29 lead into the break, and held Transy to 30 percent shooting in the second half to take the 64-57 win.

Schaefer led all scorers with 20 points, hitting 7-14 shots from the floor and all three free throw attempts. Tyler Delauder added 14 points and Tyler Henn added 11 points and six rebounds. Jason Spindler added four points, 12 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

Manchester improves to 16-10 on the year, and will travel to Anderson for Friday's semi-final round of HCAC Tournament action as MC faces Anderson starting at 8 p.m, while Defiance and Hanover will tip-off at 6 p.m. The winners advance to Saturday's tournament finals starting at 5 p.m.

Head Coach Brad Nadborne, in his sixth year at Manchester, leads a program that has gained both conference and national recognition. Before coming to Manchester College, Nadborne served three seasons as an assistant coach at DePauw University, with a one-year stint at the University of Wisconsin/LaCrosse as the interim head coach. He spent five seasons as a graduate and head assistant coach at Cornell University, and two years as the head recruiter for the University of Colorado.
  • Manchester College is the only school in the HCAC to play in a national championship, finishing runner-up in 1995 under then Head Coach Steve Alford.
  • Sophomores Nathan Ferch and Tyler Henn were named honorable mention All-Conference, along with first year player Jason Spindler.
