2.6.10 - ROSE-HULMAN EDGES MC 56-55

Rose-Hulman jumped to a 19-4 lead to start the contest but Manchester closed to within three, 33-30 at the half before falling to Rose-Hulman 56-55. Manchester took a 42-40 lead just under the 11 minute mark. MC led 55-52 with 48 seconds to go before Rose connected on a pair of layups in the next 28 seconds to take the 56-55 win.

Melissa Eltzroth led Manchester with 15 points, hitting 5-8 three point attempts and adding three rebounds and four assists. Kelsey DeMott added 11 points and five rebounds, while Lauren Kalis added nine points and an assist.

Manchester falls to 4-17 overall, 4-8 in the HCAC. They return home on Wednesday to host Bluffton and start a doubleheader versus Franklin on Saturday.

2.3.10 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO DEFIANCE 67-59
Manchester's women's basketball team fell to visiting Defiance College 67-59 in conference action Wednesday night. Manchester took a 26-24 lead into the half, but with 3:33 remaining in the second half, Defiance used a 12-4 run to take a 49-48 lead to a 61-52 lead with a minute remaining in the contest.

Lauren Kalis led Manchester with 13 points, hitting 4-7 shots from the floor and 3-5 three point attempts. Kailey Honn added 12 points and four rebounds with three blocked shots. Kelsey Demott added eight points and five rebounds with a pair of assists and steals.

Manchester falls to 4-16 overall, 4-7 in the HCAC. They return to action Saturday at Rose-Hulman for doubleheader action scheduled with the men's basketball team.

1.30.10 - SPARTANS PICK UP 64-55 WIN OVER MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
Manchester picked up a 64-55 win over Mount St. Joseph in women's basketball action on Saturday. The Spartans held a 29-21 lead at the half, and hit 8-12 three pointers in the second half to outscore Mount St. Joseph 35-34 and take the 64-55 win.

Lauren Kalis was 6-11 from behind the arc for a team high 18 points. Kelsey DeMott added 16 points and five rebounds, hitting 5-9 field goal attempts. Ashley Poe and Brittani Bush added eight points each.

Manchester improves to 4-15 overall, 4-6 in the conference. Manchester will host Defiance on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m.

1.23.10 - HANOVER POSTS 58-50 WIN OVER MANCHESTER
Hanover's women's basketball team posted a 58-50 win over Manchester College on Saturday. Hanover jumped out to a 11-2 lead to start the contest, but Manchester pulled to within one 19-18 with just under six minutes left in the contest. Hanover closed out the first half with an 11-4 run to take a 30-22 lead at the half and went on to pick up the 58-50 win.

Kelsey DeMott led Manchester with 10 points, hitting 4-9 shots from the floor. She added seven rebounds and an assist. Laine Mello scored eight points with 10 rebounds and hit 4-8 shots from the floor. Brittani Bush added nine points while Sarah Lowther added eight for MC.

Manchester falls to 3-15 overall, 3-6 in the conference. They return to action Saturday, January 30 as they host Mount St. Joseph.

1.20.10 - MC GRABS 54-51 WIN AT ANDERSON
Manchester posted a 54-51 road win at Anderson on Wednesday. Manchester commited just five turnovers in the game, and only two in the second half as the Spartans outscored AU 27-21 after halftime to pick up the 54-51 win.

Kailey Honn led Manchester with 13 points, with two blocked shots, and assist and a steal to her stats. Kelsey DeMott added 11 points, hitting 6-8 free throws and had five rebounds. Melissa Eltzrotch chipped in 10 points, hitting 3-5 shots and 3-4 free throws for the Spartans.

Manchester improves to 3-14 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC. They travel to Hanover on Saturday.

1.16.10 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO TRANSYLVANIA
Transylvania used an 8-2 run in the last two minutes of play to pick up a 56-48 win over Manchester on Saturday evening.

Manchester trailed 25-19 at the half, and were down 38-28 before putting together a 10-0 run to tie the game with 7:03 left in the second half, but the Pioneers held to take the 56-48 win.

Kailey Honn led MC with 15 points, hitting 9-10 free throws and had seven rebounds and six blocked shots. Sarah Lowther added 11 points and five rebounds. Ashley Poe chipped in five points and had eight rebounds in the loss.

Manchester falls to 2-14 overall, 2-5 in the conference. They travel to Anderson on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

1.13.10 - BLUFFTON POSTS 62-42 WIN OVER MANCHESTER
Bluffton picked up a 62-42 conference win over Manchester on Wednesday night as cold second-half shooting by the Spartans allowed Bluffton to outscore the Spartans 34-19. Bluffton went into the half with a 28-23 lead.

Ashley Poe led all Spartans with 10 points, hitting 4-6 shots from the floor in her first contest of the season. Sarah Lowther added six points, while Laine Mello, Melissa Eltzroth and Kelsey DeMott added five points each.

Manchester falls to 2-13 on the year, 2-4 in the HCAC. They return home on Saturday against Transylvania starting at 6 p.m., followed by men's basketball action at 8 p.m.

1.9.10 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO FRANKLIN 64-51
Manchester’s women’s basketball team lost to host Franklin College 64-51 in HCAC action on Saturday. Franklin held a 33-24 lead at the half and outscored Manchester 31-27 in the second half to pick up the 14-point win. Kailey Honn led Manchester with 17 points, hitting 5-12 shots from the field and 7-9 free throws. Kelsey DeMott added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Brittani Bush added eight points.

Manchester falls to 2-12 overall, 2-3 in the HCAC. They return to action Wednesday as they travel to Bluffton for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action starting at 7:30 p.m.

1.3.10 - SPARTANS PICK UP 57-55 OVERTIME WIN OVER ROSE-HULMAN

Manchester's women's basketball team picked up their second conference win of the season Sunday in a 57-55 overtime win against Rose-Hulman. Manchester trailed 15-5 early in the contest, but went on a 10-0 run to tie the game at 15 midway through the first half and trailed 27-22 at the break. Manchester outscored Rose-Hulman 27-22 in the second half to force the overtime session where Brittani Bush and Melissa Eltzroth each combined for a three pointer and Eltzroth adding the game-winning jumper with two minutes left in overtime to give Manchester the 57-55 win.

Eltzroth had 17 points coming off the bench to lead Manchester, hitting 6-10 shots and 3-6 three pointers. Brittani Bush added 12 points on 5-8 shooting and had five rebounds two assists and atwo steals. Laine Mello and Sarah Lowther had five rebounds apiece for the Spartans.

Manchester improves to 2-11 overall, 2-2 in the HCAC. They travel to Franklin on Saturday for more conference action.

12.30.09 - ALBION DEFEATS MANCHESTER 62-51 IN CONSOLATION GAME OF BALDWIN-WALLACE TOURNAMENT
Manchester's women's basketball team fell to Albion 62-51 in the consolation game of the Baldwin-Wallace Holiday Invitational on Wednesday. Manchester trailed 36-24 at the half, despite shooting 53 percent from the floor. Manchester pulled to within in one point, 48-47 with 5:50 left in the second half following a Lauren Kalis three-pointer, but Albion went on an 11-3 run late in the game to pick up the win.

Kailey Honn ended the game with 15 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Hayley Weagant and Melissa Eltzroth finished with six points each, while Becki Lowden, Alex Starkey and Laine Mello added five points each.

Manchester falls to 1-11 on the year, and resumes conference action at home on Sunday as they host Rose-Hulman starting at 2 p.m. The men's team will conclude the doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Catch both games live on 89.5 FM, WBKE or on live video and audio streams online.

12.29.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO BALDWIN-WALLACE
A strong first half by Baldwin-Wallace which included 8-0 and 17-0 runs led to a 65-42 win over Manchester in the opening game of the Baldwin-Wallace Holiday Invitational on Tuesday. B-W took a 37-15 lead into the half as Manchester shot 22 percent from the floor. MC hit 10-22 shots from the field in the second half and 33 percent for the game.

Kailey Honn led Manchester with 11 points, hitting 5 of 13 shots from the floor. Sarah Lowther added nine points and Becki Lowden added six points and nine rebounds.

Manchester falls to 1-10 on the year and resumes play on Wednesday night as they face Albion for the second time this season in the consolation game starting at 2 p.m. Albion defeated Manchester 58-53 in overtime back in November.

12.19.09 - ST. MARY'S DEFEATS MANCHESTER 55-41
Manchester's women's basketball team fell to St. Mary's (Ind.) 55-41 on Saturday. St. Mary's forced 38 turnovers, while Manchester's defense limited St. Mary's to 30 percent shooting from the floor.

Kaily Honn led Manchester with 10 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Lowther added seven points while Kelsey DeMott, Brittani Bush and Becki Lowden added six points and eight rebounds.

Manchester falls to 1-9 on the year and returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 29 as they take part in the two-day Baldwin-Wallace Invite.

Fifth-year coach Josh Dzurick led the 2006-07 women's basketball team to a record of 21-7 and captured the program’s first conference title in 20 years with a record of 15-1 in league play. He repeated as HCAC Tournament champs in 2007-08 and took MC to their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance as Manchester finished 19-9 on the year and clinched a share of the HCAC Conference Championship.
  • Manchester had two First Team All-Conference players in Kelley Meiklejohn and Sarah Bose. Rachel Wilkinson was named Honorable Mention.
  • Coach Dzurick is 75-36 overall in four years as head coach, with three national championship appearances.
  • Manchester has won two straight HCAC Championships and three straight HCAC Tournament titles during the 2005-2008 seasons.
