WOMEN ATHLETES WIN HCAC ALL-SPORTS TROPHY FOR THE FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR
Manchester College captured its fourth straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's All-Sports Trophy on Sunday as the HCAC season came to a close.  Manchester won the award with 51 team points compiled over the 2007-08 season, based on its athletic teams' placings in the conference standings.

Manchester had two conference champions this season: the women's tennis team, which won its sixth straight conference title under interim coach Olivier Thouvenot, and the women's basketball team, which earned a second straight conference championship under third-year head coach Josh Dzurick. Both teams went on to represent Manchester College at their respective NCAA National Tournaments.

A strong showing with a second place finish by the women's track and field team in early May and volleyball's third place finish in November helped separate Manchester from Rose-Hulman, who finished second with 49.5 points. Anderson took third with 47, followed by Franklin (38), Transylvania (37), The College of Mount St. Joseph (36.5), Hanover (35.5), Defiance (29) and Bluffton (21.5).

Manchester had fourth place finishes from women's golf, women's soccer and women's cross country, while softball took seventh place under interim head coach Kendra Marlowe.

Manchester College captured its first All-Sports title in 2005, sharing the award with Franklin College. In 2006, Manchester won by three points over Anderson, and in 2007, edged out Anderson again by one point.

"It's great to be in a conference where all the schools are on the same competitive level," said Athletic Director Rick Espeset. "For Manchester's women's athletic program to earn their fourth straight All-Sports title in a league like the HCAC says so much about the character of our student athletes and the desire by our coaching staff to succeed."
