About Manchester College Athletics....
Manchester College is a charter member of the highly competitive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division III. Under the visionary leadership of Tom Jarman, director of athletics, the Spartans have built an impressive program of intercollegiate athletics which stresses academic and athletic excellence.

The HCAC has become a premier conference among small college athletics as the Spartans compete with such contenders as Anderson University, The College of Mount St. Joseph, Transylvania University, and Bluffton, Defiance, Franklin and Hanover Colleges.

As an NCAA Division III member, Manchester College places highest priority on the overall quality of each student-athlete's educational experience. In so doing, the Spartan athletic program seeks to strengthen the harmonization of athletic objectives with academic and develop mental missions, and to integrate athletes with other students. In short, we place special importance on the impact of athletics on it's participants, rather than on spectators. We also place greater value on Manchester students, alumni, and friends than on the general public and its entertainment demands.

To achieve this end, the Spartans encourage participation by maximizing the number and variety of athletic opportunities in varsity and intramural sports, offering 17 intercollegiate sports, and attracting up to 75 percent of the 1,100-member student body to participate in our extensive intramural program. A co-ed cheerleading and spirited dance troupe further draw student participation and interest in the Spartan athletic program.

We also support students in their efforts to reach high levels of performance by furnishing them with excellent facilities, coaching and support staff, and competitive opportunities with student-athletes from similar institutions.
