
4.9.12 - MANCHESTER COLLEGE TO HOST WEBLETES FOOTBALL CLINIC MAY 19TH
Manchester College's football program will be hosting a Webletes Clinic on May 19th from 12-3 p.m. Any high school athlete who wants to get better at their sport are encouraged to attend. Those attending will receive the following:
- Compete against the top athletes in Indiana
- Our staff consists of former Collegiate Football Coaches, Strength Coaches, and Players who have a vast knowledge of how to perform these tests to perfection and what coaches are looking for.
- Every NCAA school in the country will be sent your information & video from the camp
- Receive instruction on how to perform the increasingly important “Combine Tests.” These will include a 40, pro shuttle, broad jump, and a vertical jump.
- Be evaluated through a “County Fair” of agility drills and 1 on 1 Competitions. You will learn tips on how to help lower times and increase your jumps while being videotaped.
- Prepare for other collegiate camps you will attend later in the summer.
- We will also be selecting athletes to showcase throughout Webletes.com.

1.11.12 - KENNEDY NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN BY BEYOND SPORTS NETWORK
Manchester senior defensive back Brecken Kennedy was named to the Beyond Sports Network's Division III All-American list as a Second Team All-American
as a defensive back.
Kennedy led Manchester
in tackles with 101 total on the year, had three interceptions for a total of 31 yards, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four pass break ups.

11.21.11 - FOOTBALL END OF SEASON AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Manchester's football team held its annual end of season awards program on Sunday, honoring various team members with special recognition.
Head Coach Shannon Griffith recognized senior Ian Reed with the team's Academic Award for holding the highest GPA on the team after four years of competition with the program. Senior defensive back Brecken Kennedy was selected as the team MVP, while Justin Minnich, Dylan Snyder, Ryan McKee and Kennedy were honored as team captains.

11.16.11 - EVANS NAMED HCAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR, NELSON NAMED HCAC NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR TO LEAD ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS
For the first time in school history, Manchester College had two members of the football program named the Most Outstanding Player in the HCAC balloting, selected by conference coaches from the HCAC.
Junior Kyle Evans (Winamac, Ind./West Central) was named HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year. Evans ranked second on the team in scoring with 59 points, hitting 12-18 field goal attempts and was 23-25 on PAT attempts. He was named HCAC Special Team Player of the Week twice in 2011, as he tied a conference game record with four field goals in a 32-6 win over Defiance and MC's 26-17 non-conference win over Kalamazoo. Evans hit 5-7 field goals in the 40-49 yard range, with a long of 44 yards on the year. He ranks 15th in the NCAA Division III in field goals and 33rd in the nation in with a 38.5 yard per punt average.
First year running back Corey Nelson was named the HCAC's Freshman of the Year. Nelson rushed for 699 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first year with the Spartan football program. He also added an 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for a total of 12 for the year and led the team in scoring with 72 points. Nelson had three 100-plus yard rushing games this year at 100, 149 and 151 yards. He sits tied for third in points in a season and second for touchdowns in a season in the MC record books.
Representing the All-Conference team this year from Manchester are junior wide receiver Kurt Monix,
senior linebackers Dylan Snyder and Ryan McKee, senior defensive back Brecken Kennedy and junior place kicker Kyle Evans. Second Team award went to Corey Nelson, while senior defensive lineman Austin Davis, and junior defensive backs Matt Frieden and Jake Butler were named honorable mention.
11.12.11 - NELSON RUSHES FOR 151 YARDS AND THREE SCORES AS MC WINS BRONZE BALL TROPHY IN 35-14 WIN OVER ANDERSON
Manchester capped off the 2011 season with a 35-14 win over Anderson to reclaim the Bronze Ball Trophy in the 11th Annual Bronze Ball Trophy game.
The Spartans picked up three scores in the second quarter to take a 21-7 lead into the half. MC capped off a six-play, 80-yard drive with a one yard pass to Josh DePew from Justin Minnich to go up 7-0 at the 14:56 mark. Manchester picked up another score on the following series as Corey Nelson found his way to the end zone on a four-yard run, and Colton Benedict scored on a one-yard run at the 7:02 mark to give the Spartans a 21-0 lead. Anderson scored with two minutes left in the half for the 21-7 Manchester lead at the break. Nelson scored at the 4:56 mark of the third quarter on a one-yard run
and again midway in the fourth quarter on a five-yard run to give Manchester the 35-14 win.
Nelson ended the day with 151 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. Colton Benedict added 87 yards and a touchdown. Justin Minnich was 6-12 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown, while HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week Kyle Evans went 5-5 in PAT attempts.
Dylan Snider led the defense with 12 tackles and an interception. Matt Friedend added 11 tackles, Ryan McKee had eight tackles and two interceptions and Brecken Kennedy also recorded eight tackles.
Manchester wraps up the season 4-6 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC.
11.5.11 - EVANS SCORES FOUR FIELD GOALS IN MC'S 32-6 WIN OVER DEFIANCE
Manchester snapped a six-game losing streak Saturday and halted Defiance's four-game win streak as the Spartans posted a 32-6 win over the Yellow Jackets.
Junior place kicker Kyle Evans (Winamac, Ind.) accounted for half of the Spartans offense as he connected on field goals of 37, 42 and 32 yards in the first half. Combined with a Kurt Monix 38 yard touchdown pass from Justin Minnich, MC took a 15-0 lead into the half. The Spartans got another field goal from Evans on a 40-yard attempt in the final seconds of the third quarter, and connected on two PAT attempts in the fourth as Minnich scored on a nine yard run and a Corey Nelson 37 yard touchdown to seal the 32-6 win.
Colton Benedict led MC with 122 yards rushing on 22 carries. Nelson finished with 65 yards on 14 attempts and Minnich added 20 yards on the ground. He was 8-12 passing for 140 yards. Kurt Monix had 95 of those passing yards with his four catches.
Manchester's defense held Defiance to just 187 yards of total offfense on the day, 116 yards rushing and 71 yards passing. The Spartans were led by Brecken Kennedy, who had nine tackles, while Dylin Kennedy added eight tackles and an interception. Ryan McKee had seven tackles with a sack. Aron Miller and Jon Scribner had two tackles each as MC tallied eight total sacks on the day.
Manchester improves to 3-6 in the year, 2-5 in the HCAC. They will wrap up the season on Saturday as they host Anderson for the annual Bronze Ball game starting at 1:30 p.m.

10.29.11 - MOUNT ST. JOSEPH CLINGS TO 26-24 WIN OVER MC
Manchester fell to Mount St. Joseph 26-24 in HCAC action from Manchester on Saturday. MC jumped to a 10-0 lead after a Justin Minnich 10-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a Kyle Evans 27-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Mount St. Joseph answered with three straight scores, connecting on a three rushing touchdowns, two in the second period to take a 13-10 lead at the half and again in the third quarter. MC responded with two scores, one on a Colton Benedict three yard touchdown run and a Minnich to Kurt Monix 10 yard touchdown pass to take a 24-20 lead. MSJ scored early in the fourth quarter for the 26-24 final.
Justin Minnich wsa 13-26 passing for 178 yards and added a team high 70 yards rushing. Colton Benedict added 52 yards rushing, while Monix had 82 yards receiving with a score.
Brecken Kennedy led the defense with 18 tackles, 10 solo and eight assists. Dylan Snyder added 12 tackles and Matt Frieden had 10 tackles. Donald Ivey recorded an interception for the Spartan defense.
Manchester drops to 2-6 on the year, 1-5 in the HCAC. They will travel to Defiance on Saturday.
10.22.11 - MC FALLS TO HANOVER 58-7
Manchester fell to Hanover in conference football action 58-7 on Saturday. Hanover jumped out to a 27-0 lead at the half, scoring once in the first quater, and three times in the second. The Panthers added
four scores in the third quarter to take a 51-0 lead before the Spartans got on the scoreboard following a Corey Nelson 83-yard kickoff return. Hanover capped the game with their eigth score of the game with 9:36 remaining before taking the 58-7 win.
Manchester's offense was held to just 103 total yards on the day. Justin Minnich was 12-22 passing for 33 yards and two interceptions, while Nick Williams went 3-9 with a pick and 11 yards passing. Williams led MC in rushing with 32 yards on seven carries, while Corey NElson added 28 yards on six carries.
Matt Frieden had 10 tackles (seven solo and three assisted) with a forced fumble to lead the defense. Dylin Kennedy and Andrew Totheroh added eight tackles each, while Brecken Kennedy added six tackles. Jake Butler had an interception for MC.
Manchester falls to 2-5 on the year, 1-5 in the HCAC. They will host Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
10.15.11 - FRANKLIN CLINGS TO 27-14 WIN OVER MANCHESTER
Franklin jumped to a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter, but Manchester's Dante Dinkins scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter to give the Grizzlies a 14-7 halftime lead. Franklin scored late in the third, but the Spartans converted a Franklin fumble into a David Neal nine-yard touchdown reception from Justin Minnich with 14:27 remaining to trail 20-14. FC scored with 51 seconds left in the game to seal the 27-14 win.
Minnich ended the game 19-28 passing for 129 yards and a score. Kurt Monix had eight catches for 49 yards, while Colton Benedict had four catches for 25 yards, and added 61 yards rushing on 21 carries.
Defensively, Dylan Snyder had 12 tackles to lead MC, 11 solo and one assistedn with an interception. Matt Frieden, Ryan McKee and Brecken Kennedy each had seven tackles, with Kennedy recording an interception.
Manchester drops to 2-4 on the year, 1-3 in the HCAC. The Spartans will travel to Hanover on Saturday.
10.8.11 - BLUFFTON SPOILS MC'S HOMECOMING IN 30-27 OVERTIME LOSS
Manchester fell to Bluffton 30-27 in conference action Saturday as Manchester held its annual Homecoming weekend activities.
Manchester got on he board early in the first quarter following a Kyle Evans 22 yard field goal to go up 3-0. Bluffton scored a pair of touchdowns, one in the first and again early in the second on a 49 yard run and a 38 yard pass to take a 13-3 lead. Manchester scored on a Colton Benedict 14-yard touchdown run with 5:48 to go in the half. Bluffton responded to score a touchdown to go ahead 20-10, but the Spartans scored twice in the final two minutes, one on a Corey Nelson 65-yard touchdown and again on an Evans 27 yard field goal to tie the game a 20-20 at the half.
Manchester's Collin Skodinski scored on a nine yard TD pass from Justin Minnich to take a 27-20 lead, bu Bluffton scored with 14 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime, where they sealed the game with a 27-yard field goal to pick up the 30-27 win.
Nelson ended the game with 149 yards rushing on 20 carries with one touchdown. Minnich added 60 yards on the ground, and was 14-25 passing for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Kurt Monix added four catches for 37 yards, and Skodinski had four catches for 33 yards and a score.
Dylan Snyder led the defense with 13 tackles, including six solo and seven assisted and had a sack and forced fumble. Ryan McKee added 11 tackles, eight of those solo and an interception. Kylin Kennedy had seven tackles.
Manchester falls to 2-3 on the year, 1-2 in the HCAC. They will travel to league-leading Franklin on Saturday, Oct. 15. Manchester's JV football team will be at home on Monday as they host Anderson starting at 6 p.m.
10.5.11 - McKEE NAMED TO NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
Senior linebacker Ryan McKee was named to the Beyond Sports Network Team of the Week following his 21 tackle performance in the 26-20 loss to Rose-Hulman on Saturday. McKee had 14 solo and seven assisted tackles, including 1.5 tackles for lost yardage. For a complete rundown of the list, visit here.
10.1.11 - ROSE-HULMAN RALLIES TO POST 26-20 WIN OVER MANCHESTER
Manchester fell to Rose-Hulman in conference action Saturday with a final score of 26-20. Manchester's Corey Nelson scored two early touchdowns on runs of five and eight yards for Manchester to give the Spartans a 14-0 lead over Rose-Hulman.
The Engineers scored at the 10:53 mark in the second quarter and added a 42 yard field goal to make it a 14-9 Manchester lead at the half.
Rose_hulman scored midway in the third quarter, only to be countered by Nelson's third touchdown of the day on a one-yard run to give Manchester a 20-16 lead. Rose-Hulman closed the third with another field goal
and added a touchdown with 11 minutes to go in the game to take the 26-20 win.
Quarterback Justin Minnich led the way rushing with 105 yards on 12 carries. Nelson had 57 yards and three scores on 13 carries. Minnich was 11-24 passing for 114 yards and two interceptions. Kurt Monix led the receivers with six catches for 43 yards.
Defensively
Ryan McKee had 21 tackles, 14 solo and seven assisted with a sack. Matt Frieden added 11 tackles and Brecken Kennedy posted eight tackles. Ian Reed recorded an interception for the Spartan defense.
Manchester falls to 2-2 on the year, 1-1 in the HCAC. They will host Bluffton on Saturday, Oct. 8 for Homecoming.

9.17.11 - SPARTANS POST 17-13 WIN AT EARLHAM
Manchester's football team scored a touchdown with 1:24 left in the game to pick up a 17-13 win over Earlham in MC's conference opener.
Manchester scored on a Corey Nelson three-yard TD run in the first quarter to go up 7-0 following this week's d3football.com Kicker of the Week Kyle Evan's PAT attempt. Earlham scored on a 32 yard field goal late in the first quarter, before Evans connected on a 37-yard attempt to give MC a 10-3 lead. Earlham scored on another field goal midway through the second quarter to make it a 10-6 halftime lead for Manchester. The Quakers scored on a 17-yard touchdown reception with 5:45 left in the game to go ahead 13-10, but Nelson capped an 11-play, 72-yard drive with a one-yard scamper into the endzone to give MC the 17-13 win.
Nelson ended the game with 38 yards on 16 carries and two scores. Quarterback Justin Minnich was 18-28 passing for 166 yards, while Kurt Monix had seven catches for 82 yards.
Brecken Kennedy had two interceptions and Jake Butler added a third for the Spartan defense. Kennedy had 14 tackles in the game, Ryan McKee added 11 tackles, and Dylan Snyder had seven tackles.
Manchester improves to 2-1 on the year, 1-0 in the conference. They will have a bye week before hosting Rose-Hulman on Oct. 1
9.13.11 - SPARTAN PLAYERS RECEIVE NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS
Following Manchester's 26-17 win over Kalamazoo last Saturday, three Manchester players have received player of the week honors from three different affiliations.
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference awarded all three of their Player of the Week awards to Manchester this week. Kurt Monix was named Offensive Player of the Week with his six catches for 83 yards and two touchdown performance. Brecken Kennedy was named Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 17 tackles and a pass breakup. Kyle Evans was the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week as the place kicker connected on 4-4 field goals and two extra point attempts.
In other awards, Kennedy and Evans were named to the Team of the Week selected by Beyond Sports Network, and Evans was named to the D3football.com's Team of the Week.
9.10.11 - MC POSTS 26-17 WIN OVER KALAMAZOO
MC place kicker Kyle Evans connected on four field goals and had two PAT kicks to compliment Kurt Monix's pair of touchdown receptions as Manchester picked up a 26-17 win over Kalamazoo.
Evans connected on field goals of 44 and 41 yards to give Manchester a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Monix scored on a 26 yard touchdown pass from Justin Minnich in the second quarter. Kalamazoo ended the half with a 22-yard Travis Braun field goal to give MC a 13-3 lead at the half. Monix scored again in the third period on an 8-yard TD grab, with K'zoo responding with their first touchdown of the game
in the third to make a 20-10 Spartan lead. Evans' foot came through for MC again as he hit a 42-yard field goal with 57 seconds left in the third and another with 11:03 remaining in the fourth quarter to give MC a 26-10 lead. The Hornets's Dimeko Price scored his second touchdown of the day with 6:48 remaining, handing MC their first win of the season, 26-17.
Running back Corey Nelson of Manchester had 100 yards on the ground rushing on 16 carries, while
Monix added 83 yards and two TDs on six catches. David Neal had three grabs for 45 yards, and Justin Minnich was 17-28 passing with 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Defensively, Brecken Kennedy led the way with 17 tackles, while Ryan McKee added 13 and Dylan Snyder chiped in 12. Jake Butler had eight tackles and an interception for MC.
The Spartans move to 1-1 on the year and will travel to Earlham to start conference play on Saturday.
9.5.11 - FOOTBALL STAFF ANNOUNCES PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

9.1.11 - MC FALLS TO #21 TRINE IN SEASON OPENER 24-13
Manchester's football team fell to Preseason #21 Trine 24-13 in the 2011 season opener on Thursday night.
Trine jumped to an early 14-0 lead after scoring on a pair of MC interceptions in the first four minutes of play. The Spartans got on the board at the 4:48 mark in the first quarter as Corey Nelson scored on a five-yard run, followed by a Kyle Evans PAT kick. Trine scored on a 27-yard fumble recovery and on a 37 yard field goal to take a 24-7 lead into the half. MC scored on a one-yard scamper into the endzone by Dante Dinkins to make it a 24-13 Trine lead after missed PAT attempt.
MC's defense held Trine to just 242 yards of offense for the game, 116 rushing and 126 passing, but were held to 203 yards of total offense. Nelson ended the game with 57 yards and a score on the ground. Kurt Monix had five catches for 49 yards.
Defensively, Brecken Kennedy led the Spartans with 16 tackles and two forced fumbles. Dylan Snyder added 11 tackles and Ryan McKee added nine tackles and a sack.
MC drops to 0-1 on the year, and will play their final non-conference game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 10 as they host Kalamazoo starting at 1:30 p.m.
8.10.11 - BRECKEN KENNEDY NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN BY BEYOND SPORTS NETWORK
Manchester College senior defensive back Brecken Kennedy was selected as a Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network (BSN). BSN evaluates preseason candidates based on statistics, awards and evaluation of film.
Kennedy led Manchester in tackles with 132 total tackles and added nine interceptions for 100 total return yards. He had 19 defended passes with two fumble recoveries.
The Spartans open their season Thursday, Sept. 1 as they host #21 in the nation Trine starting at 7 p.m. for MC's annual Community Day.

Under the direction of eighth-year coach Shannon Griffith and his staff, Spartan football is being thoroughly revitalized. Coach Griffith brings 15 years of college coaching experience at NCAA Division I and II schools. An Indiana All-State quarterback at Fort Wayne's Northrop High School, Griffith continued his football career at Ball State, where he helped lead the Cardinals to a Mid-American Conference Championship and a spot in the California Raisin Bowl.
