
5.3.08 - SPARTANS PLACE FOURTH OVERALL AT HCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester's men's golf team finished fourth overall at the 2008 HCAC Conference Championships hosted by Chestnut Hills Golf Course. Manchester was in a tie for fifth place with Rose-Hulman following Friday's third round, but the Spartans shot a 344 on Saturday to move ahead of Rose-Hulman and Hanover College.
Josh Murphy tied for ninth overall with a four-round score of 319. Matt Sarber was 14th with a 327, Brandon Gerlich tied for 16th place with a 335 and Ronald Berish placed 35th with a 363.
Transylvania won the team title with a 1216, followed by Franklin in second witha 1277, Anderson third with a 1283 and Manchester in fourth with a 1332.
Transylvania's Bradley Sutherland took medalist honors and Franklin's Eric Whitaker took the Freshman of the Year honors. Transy's Brian Lane was named HCAC Coach of the Year.
5.2.08 - MEN'S GOLF SLIDES TO FIFTH AFTER ROUND THREE OF HCAC TOURNAMENT
Manchester's men's golf team moved to fifth place on Friday following the third round of HCAC Championship competition. Josh Murphy remains in a tie for sixth place after shooting an 82 in the third round. Matt Sarber stands in 11th place after a 79, Brandon Gerlach is in 20th with an 89 and RJ Berish is in 32nd place after his 91. Golf action resumes on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. for the fourth and final round of action.
4.26.08 - MANCHESTER IN FOURTH AFTER SOUTH REGION OF HCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester's men's golf team wrapped up the first part of the HCAC Champio nships on Saturday in Columbus, Indiana with a fourth place finish.
Manchester has a two day score of 325-322/647 with Transylvania leading the way with a 590 team score.
Spartan Josh Murphy currently stands in sixth place with a 76-77/153, while Matt Sarber is currently tied for 12th with an 84-75/159. Brandon Gerlach is tied for 15th with a 160, while Ronald Berish is tied for 35th with a 175 and Ian Fry is 40th with a 192.
Manchester College will play host to the third and fourth rounds of the HCAC Championships this coming weekend at Chestnut Hills, located in Fort Wayne.
4.20.08 - SPARTANS PLACE 15TH AT OHIO NORTHERN INVITE
The MC men's golf team took 15th place out of 16 teams at the 2008 Ohio Northern Invite.
Josh Murphy led the way for the Spartans witha 43rd place finish, shooting an 82-77/159. Matt sarber tied for 62nd with an 82-81/163, while Brandon Gerlach shot an 80-85/165 to finish 66th overall. Andy Burton placed 76th and Ronald Berish took 85th place to round out the top five.
Manchester returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the HCAC Championships hosted by Hanover College in Columbus, Indiana. Manchester will host the second round of action on May 2 and 3.
4.12.08 - MANCHESTER PLACES EIGHTH AT SPARTAN INVITE
Manchester's men's golf team took eighth place out of nine schools at the 2008 Manchester College Spartan Invite on Saturday at Chestnut Hills. Weather conditions shortened the 36-hole event to just one round of 18 holes, with Hope College taking team honors with a score of 319. Transylvania took second with a 323, followed by Franklin in third with a 330. Anderson took fourth with a 333, followed by Rose-Hulman (342), Hanover (347), Mount St. Joseph (357), Manchester (361) and Defiance (364).
Manchester's Josh Murphy tied for 15th to lead Manchester with an 83. Matt Sarber tied for 32nd with an 88, while Brandon Gerlach shot a 90 to place 38th. Andy Burton and RJ Berish shot a 100 to tie for 52nd.
Manchester returns to action Saturday and Sunday at the Ohio Northern Invite.
10.3.07-MEN'S GOLF PLACES NINTH AT MC INVITE
The Manchester College men's golf team placed ninth out of nine teams at the 2007 Manchester College Fall Invite, hosted at Honeywell Golf Course.
Brandon Gerlach placed 37th overall with a 79-83/162, Andy BUrton tied for 39th with an 80-83/163, Josh Murphy and Matt Sarber tied for 44th with an 87-81/168 and 81-87/168 respectively, and Ronald Berish tied for 50th with a 90-85/175.
The men's golf team returns to action this weekend at DePauw.
9.24.07-MEN'S GOLF PLACE 8TH AT FRANKLIN INVITE
Manchester placed 8th out of nine teams at the 2007 Franklin College Fall Invitational. Matt Sarber led MC with a 79-88/176. Josh Murphy shot an 82-75/157, Andy Burton fired a 90-76/166, R.J. Berish shot an 88-86/174 and Brandon Gerlach shot an 81-87/168 to round out the top five.

Fourth-year coach Jeff Kock, a 1998 graduate of Manchester College, has developed a pair of outstanding golf teams. The teams, which play fall and spring seasons, have continued to build on a tradition of excellence. Both the men's and women's teams had outstanding results for the 2006-07 season.
- The women’s team qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in Orlando, Fla., finishing 18th.
- The women’s team captured their fourth straight HCAC title in 2006-07.
- The men’s team placed third in the HCAC Championships, led by Scott Bucher’s sixth place finish.
- The men’s team has finished in the top three in the conference for the last four years.
- Jeff Kock has won three HCAC Coach of the Year awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
