
10.3.09 - MANCHESTER PLACES FIFTH AT MC INVITE
Manchester's men's golf team placed fifth out of five teams at the 2009 Manchester College Fall Invitational. Brandon Gerlach took third place with a two-round score of 79-71/150. Matt Sarber tied for 15th with an 82-77/159, Kyle Lawson took 34th with a 90-84/174 and Drew Shultz placed 36th with a 97-111/208.
Manchester travels to DePaow on Saturday and Sunday.
9.20.09 - SPARTANS FINISH 7TH AT DEFIANCE INVITE
Manchester's men's golf team opened up their non-traditional season at the 2009 Defiance College Invite on Sunday, September 20. Manchester placed seventh out of seven schools, shooting a 376 in the 18-hole tournament. Tiffin won the team title with a 305.
Matt Sarber tied for 29th with an 84, Brandon Gerlach tied for 33rd with an 85, Kyle Lawson shot a 95 to tie for 41st, and Drew Shultz placed 43rd with a 112.
Manchester returns to action at Franklin on Sunday and Monday.
5.2.09 - MANCHESTER FINISHES SIXTH AT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester's men's golf team finished sixth overall at the HCAC Conference Championships, hosted by Mount St. Joseph. Manchester finished 33 strokes behind Rose-Hulman, who took fifth. Transylvania placed first overall with a team score of 1233, followed by Franklin with a 1270, Mount St. Joseph with a 1301, Anderson in fourth with a 1303, Rose-Hulman with a 1305, Manchester with a 1338, Hanover with a 1364 and Defiance rounding out the Top 8 with a 1387.
Manchester's Matt Sarber finished 12th overall to lead the Spartans, shooting a 326 in the four round event. Eric Hershman tied for 18th with a 333, Brecken Kennedy took 23rd with a 338, followed by Brandon Gerlach in 27th with a 341, and Blake Schori took 36th with a 377.
4.26.09 - SPARTANS TIED FOR FIFTH AFTER SECOND ROUND OF HCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester moved into a tie for fifth place following the second round of action from the HCAC Conference Tournament, hosted by Rose-Hulman.
Manchester improved from Saturday's 335 by shaving eight strokes for a Sunday score of 327 to tie with Anderson at 662. Transylvania leads the conference with a 321 - 306 / 627.
Brecken Kennedy is in a five-way tie for ninth, shooting a pair of 81's for a 162. Eric Hershman is in a tie for 17th with a 165, Matt Sarber is in 19th with a 166, Brandon Gerlach is in 24th with a 169 and Blake Schori is in 36th with a 186.
Rounds three and four will be held May 1 and 2 at Mount St. Joseph.
4.25.09 - MC SIXTH AFTER DAY ONE OF CONFERENCE GOLF ACTION
Manchester's men's golf team is in sixth place after the first of four rounds from the HCAC Conference Championships. Rose-Hulman is the first and second round host, with Mount St. Joseph closing out the third and fourth rounds at their home course next weekend.
Brecken Kennedy is currently tied for 10th with an 81, Matt Sarber is in 16th with an 82, while Eric Hershman is in 23rd with an 85. Brandon Gerlach is tied for 26th with an 87 and Black Schori is tied for 36th with a 93. Round two begins on Sunday.
4.20.09 - MANCHESTER TAKES SIXTH AT ROSE-HULMAN INVITE
The Spartan men's golf team took sixth out of nine teams at the 2009 Rose-Hulman Invitational on Sunday. Leading the way for Manchester was Brandon Gerlach, who placed 10th with an 81-75/156. Brecken Kennedy tied for 29th with a 90-77/167, Matt Sarber tied for 31st with an 81-87/168, Eric Hershman fired an 89-82/171 while Blake Schori tied for 43rd with a 91-86/177 to round out the top five.
Manchester travels to Rose-Hulman again this weekend for the first two rounds of the HCAC Conference Championship. Rounds three and four will be held the following weekend at Mount St. Joseph.
4.5.09 - SPARTANS TAKE EIGHTH AT MT. ST. JOSEPH INVITE
The Manchester College men's golf team finished eighth out of ten teams at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational on Sunday.
MC's Matt Sarber led the Spartans, tying for 21st place with a two day score of 86-80/166. Brandon Gerlach tied for 26th with an 82-87/169, followed by Eric Hershman in 48th place with an 86-96/182. Brecken Kennedy took 58th place with a 98-91/189 and Bob James rounded out the top five for MC with a 107-98/205.
Manchester returns to action at the Rose-Hulman Invite on April 18 & 19.
3.15.09 - MEN'S GOLF FINISHES FOURTH AT DEPAUW INVITE
Manchester's men's golf team began the spring portion of their season with a fourth place finish at the DePauw Invite.
MC's Brandon Gerlach and Eric Hershman tied for 11th with a 79 in the one round tournament. Matt Sarber took 19th with an 82, Brecken Kennedy and Blacke Schori tied for 29th with an 88, Bob James finished 35th with a 99 and Michael Buckles took 36th with a 101.
Manchester resumes play at the Mount St. Joseph Invite on April 4 and 5.
10.4.08 - MC TAKES 9th AT DEPAUW SMALL SCHOOL INVITE
Manchester's men's golf team placed ninth out of 12 teams at the 2008 DePauw University Fall Small School Invite. Manchester shot a two-day score of 317-326=643.
Brandon Gerlach tied for ninth overall in the individual standings with a 77-74=151, Matt Sarber tied for 36th with a 79-81=160 and Eric Hershman tied placed 49th with a 79-86=165. Wes Wirrig shot an 82-85=167 to tie for 53rd while Zach Hoke tied for 68th with a 91-87=178 to round out the top five for MC.
9.29.08 - SPARTANS PLACE SEVENTH AT FRANKLIN INVITE
Manchester's men's golf team placed seventh out of eight teams at the 2008 Franklin College Fall Invitational. Manchester fired a two-day score of 320-319=639 and was led by Brandon Gerlach's 82-76=158, which placed him 35th overall. Wes Wirrig shot an 81-79=160 to tie for 37th place, as Matt Sarber fired a pair of 81's to place 42nd with a 158. Eric Hershman shot a 76-88-164 to place 45th, while Zach Hoke shot two 83's for a 166 overall score, placing him in 49th place.

Fourth-year coach Jeff Kock, a 1998 graduate of Manchester College, has developed a pair of outstanding golf teams. The teams, which play fall and spring seasons, have continued to build on a tradition of excellence. Both the men's and women's teams had outstanding results for the 2006-07 season.
- The women’s team qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in Orlando, Fla., finishing 18th.
- The women’s team captured their fourth straight HCAC title in 2006-07.
- The men’s team placed third in the HCAC Championships, led by Scott Bucher’s sixth place finish.
- The men’s team has finished in the top three in the conference for the last four years.
- Jeff Kock has won three HCAC Coach of the Year awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
