Manchester College M-Association Names Adamson Coach of the Year

     Eastbrook High School coach Jeff Adamson ’86 has been selected as the 2007 Manchester College M Association Claude Wolfe Coach of the Year. At Manchester, Adamson was a four-year letter winner with the football program and served as a team captain in 1985 under then coach Bob Cornell. He also lettered one season with the baseball team under coach Jim Gratz.
    Adamson has served as the head football coach at Eastbrook High School for the past 19 seasons, and was an assistant coach for the Panther football program three years prior to his head coaching position. Along with his football responsibilities, he as been the junior varsity baseball coach for more than 20 years, and has coached at the junior varsity wrestling and junior varsity basketball levels.  
    Adamson is 156-57 overall in 18 seasons with Eastbrook. He has nine sectional titles: 1993, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and three regional championships during the 1999, 2001 and 2004 seasons. His team advanced to the Indiana state championships in Class 2A in 2004 and captured a semi-state title. Eastbrook has won seven CIC conference championships and has had 14 consecutive winning seasons.
     He served as the head coach for the Indiana North-South All-Star game in 2002 and was an assistant coach for the All-State Gamesof 1995 and 1998. He was named the Marion Chronicle Tribune Coach of the Year nine times, as well as numerous other Coach of the Year awards at local and state levels. He is active in the Indiana Football Coaches Association and serves on several committees within the organization. He and his wife, Kandi, have two children, Anthony and Sarah.
     Coach Adamson will be honored at a lunch reception in the Manchester College Physical Education and Recreation Center (PERC) at 11 a.m., Oct. 6, as part of Homecoming festivities. He will also be recognized at halftime of the Manchester vs. Bluffton football game. Tickets are $10 at the door.      The Coach of the Year award was established in 1980, with the first award presented to Phil Weybright ’68. In 1988, the award was changed in name to honor Claude Wolfe ’41, who coached at Manchester College for 25 years.


HALL OF FAME CLASS ANNOUNCED, OCTOBER 20TH LUNCHEON DATE SCHEDULED
Manchester College will induct five former Spartans into the Athletic Hall of Fame during a luncheon ceremony on Oct. 20.  The class of 2007 includes Stan Weller '68, Becky Kreps '86, LeAnn Lake '98, Trey Holcomb '98 and Josh Hardman '99.  For more information or to make reservations, contact the Manchester College Alumni Office at 260-982-5223.
