1.28.08 - SWANSON JOINS ROWE AS NSCAA NORTH/CENTRAL SCHOLAR ATHLETE
Manchester College senior elementary education major Parker Swanson joined Chris Rowe to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's North/Central Scholar Athlete Team.  The NSCAA/adidas sponsor award selected 16 individuals to the North/Central team on merits of academic and athletics success.  Manchester was the only conference school represented on this year's list.

Swanson ended the 2007 season with 10 goals and four assists and ranked second in the league in both points and goals scored. He helped the Spartans tie a school record for wins in a season at 12-6-2 overall, and ended his four year career at Manchester with 36 goals and 13 assists. He has been named to the HCAC First Team All-Conference and HCAC Academic All-Conference teams.

1.9.08 - ROWE NAMED NSCAA SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICAN
Manchester College junior  Chris Rowe has been named First Team Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of Association. Rowe, a Biology-Chemistry major, was named to the Scholar-All-North/Central Regional team before advancing to the national ballots.

Rowe also was named to the NSCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Regional team, as he scored four goals and assisted in seven others for the men's soccer team this season.  Manchester ended the year 12-6-2, tying a school record for wins in a season.

11.30.07-COACH GOOD'S SEASON RECAP
The 2007 season was an exciting year with several record-tying and record-breaking performances. The team tied the Manchester record of wins (12) and shutouts (8) in a single season. The 56 goals the team recorded broke the single-season scoring record of 55 set back in 1985. Brian Huss broke the single season assist record with his total of 15.
After losing the opening game of Heartland Conference play, the Spartans found themselves playing for a share of the conference championship in the final game versus Transylvania. The 1-2 loss in that game set up a re-match a week later in the HCAC Tournament Championship with a chance to move on into the national tournament. The team beat Rose-Hulman in the semi-finals on penalty kicks following overtime, but then lost to Transy 1-2 in the championship game to end the 2007 season.
The Spartans graduate six seniors from this year’s team but will still return a strong nucleus for 2008. Defender Brian Woods, midfielder Chris Rowe, and forwards Brian Huss and Parker Swanson were named to the HCAC All-Conference team. Defender Tom Garrett and forward Elie Francois were named to the Second Team All-Conference. Coach David Good shared HCAC Coach of the Year honors with the coaches from Rose-Hulman and Transylvania.
Ryan Deeter, Heriju Gadzama, Dante Samuel and Parker Swanson were recognized on the HCAC Academic All-Conference team (3.5 GPA or better).

January Session in Jamica

Once every four years, Coach Good takes the team on a trip to Jamaica during January session. The student athletes earn class credit, participate in a service/work camp and get to play some soccer, too! In 2006, a social psychology class was led by Dr. Marcie Coulter-Kern. See photos in our Photo Album.
