
11.11.09 - KOOMLER NAMED TO FOURTH FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE, HUTCHINSON AND JENKINS ALSO RECOGNIZED
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference released the 2009 All-Conference selections on Monday, with Manchester's Paige Koomler picking up her fourth straight First Team award.
Koomler was named the HCAC's Freshman of the Year in 2006 and was named to the First Team All-Conference in 2007, 2008 and 2009. She leaves Manchester with the second best goals scored total with 47. Her 17 career assists moves her to third place on the school's all-time points scorer with 111.
Junior Kaitlin Hutchinson was named to the Second Team All-Conference list for the third straight year, following selections to the 2007 and 2008 teams. Joining her on the Second Team All-Conference list was first year player Laura Jenkins, who led the team with six goals scored this year.
10.31.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO HANOVER 1-0
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to Hanover 1-0 to close out the 2009 season. Hanover outshot Manchester 34-0 in the loss, with Sarah Tobola recording 15 saves in the loss.
Manchester finishes the year 3-13-1 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC.
10.27.09 - MANCHESTER POSTS 2-0 WIN OVER DEFIANCE
Manchester's women's soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Defiance on Tuesaday. Laura Jenkins scored both goals for Manchester, connecting on her first goal, unassisted in the 42nd minute of play, then again in the second half on a Julia Pierce assist.
Manchester improves to 3-12-1 overall, 3-4 in the HCAC. They wrap up the season on Saturday at Hanover.
10.23.09 - INDIANA WESLEYAN DEFEATS MANCHESTER 7-0
Indiana Wesleyan scored five goals in the second half as they picked up a 7-0 win over Manchester as the Spartans closed out their home contests for the year. Manchester's Erica Hedges recorded 10 saves in the loss.
MC moves to 2-12-1 overall, and resumes conference action Tuesday at Defiance.
10.20.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO BLUFFTON 1-0
Manchester fell to conference opponent Bluffton 1-0 on Wednesday, as Bluffton notched their first conference win of the year. Bluffton scored in the 34th minute of play to pick up the win. Erica Hedges had five saves in the loss.
Mancheste rfalls to 2-11-1 overall, 2-4 in the HCAC. They return to action at home on Saturday as they host Indiana Wesleyan.
10.17.09 - MC FALLS TO MT. ST. JOSEPH 2-0
Manchester fell to Mt. St. Joseph 2-0 in HCAC women's soccer action on Saturday. The Mount scored both goals in the second half to pick up the win. MC's Erica Hedges had five saves in the loss.
Manchester falls to 2-10-1 on the year, 2-3 in the HCAC. They will host Bluffton on Wednesday.
10.10.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO ROSE-HULMAN 2-0
Manchester fell to Rose-Hulman in HCAC action Saturday 2-0. Allison Cruse recorded six saves in the loss. Manchester drops to 2-9-1 on the year, 2-2 in the HCAC. They return to action Saturday against Mt. St. Joseph starting at noon. Fans and spectators are encouraged to wear pink, as the Spartans are hosting a Pink Out Day on campus, to help raise awareness for breast cancer research. A silent auction will be held at the soccer games to donate to the Susan B. Komen For the Cure Foundation.
10.06.09 - MANCHESTER POSTS 3-0 SHUTOUT OVER ANDERSON
Manchester picked up a 3-0 conference win over Anderson on Wednesday to improve to 2-1 in the HCAC. Jenny Smith scored the game winning goal in the 33rd minute and gave Manchester a 1-0 lead at the half. Paige Koomler scored in the 54th minute on an Allison Moore assist and Ashley Scatena scored in the 69th minute on a Koomler assist for the 3-0 win.
Manchester moves to 2-8-1 on the year and returns to action Saturday at Rose-Hulman.
10.03.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO TRANSYLVANIA 1-0 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Manchester's women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 conference contest to Transylvania in double overtime on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Allison Cruse recorded 23 saves as Transy outshot Manchester 26-2 on the day.
Manchester falls to 1-8-1 overall, 1-1 in the HCAC. They host Anderson on Wednesday.
9.30.09 - MANCHESTER FINISHES IN 1-1 TIE WITH CAPITAL
Manchester's women's soccer team ended in a 1-1 tie with Capital, following two overtimes on Wednesday. Manchester was outshot 57-5 in the contest, with first year goalkeeper Allison Cruse recording 19 saves.

Lauzon scored the game's first goal on a Jenny Smith assist in the 8th minute of action. Capital responded 58 seconds later with a goal to tie the game at 1-1.
Manchester
goes to 1-7-1 on the year, and returns to action Saturday at home as they host Transylvania starting at noon.
9.26.09 - SPARTANS GET FIRST WIN OF THE YEAR, JENKINS SCORES TWO GOALS
Manchester picked up a 4-0 win over Franklin on Saturday to get their first win of the year. Laura Jenkins scored the first two goals for MC, the opening goal came in the first minute of play off a Paige Koomler assist and gave MC a 1-0 halftime lead. Jenkins scored again in the 58th minute unassisted, and was followed by two more Spartan goals, one by Allison Moore in the 61st minute and Paige Koomler scored in the 83rd minute.
Allison Cruse recorded four saves in the shutout win.
Manchester improves to 1-7 overall, 1-0 in the HCAC. They travel to Capital on Wednesday.
9.23.09 - MANCHESTER DROPS 4-1 MATCH TO ALBION
Kali Lauzon scored in the second minute for a quick 1-0 lead, but Albion tied the game in the 36th minute to go into the half at 1-1.
Albion scored three straight goals in the second half, at the 48th, 54th and 59th minute to pick up the 4-1 win. Erica Hedges had seven saves and Allison Cruse added two saves for MC.
The women's soccer team travels to Franklin on Saturday to start HCAC play.
9.19.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO WITTENBERG 2-0
Manchester dropped a 2-0 decision to Wittenberg on Saturday as they opened up at home for the first time this season. MC goalkeeper Erica Hedges had 11 saves for Manchester in the loss.
Manchester falls to 0-6 on the year and returns to action at home on Wednesday as they host Albion.
9.16.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO OLIVET 2-1
Manchester fell to Olivet 2-1 in women's soccer action on Wednesday. Olivet took a 1-0 lead into the half as they scored in the 28th minute of action. MC's Paige Koomler notched her third goal of the year in the 76th minute of play to tie the game. Olivet scored in the 88th minute of action to pick up the 2-1 win. Erica Hedges had 14 saves in the loss for MC.
Manchester falls to 0-5 on the year, and returns to action home on Saturday as they face Wittenberg starting at 2 p.m.
9.13.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO ST. MARY'S 5-1
The women's soccer team fell to St. Mary's 5-1 in the final game of the St. Mary's Tournament on Sunday. Laura Jenkins scored MC's lone goal of the game assisted by Paige Koomler. Manchester falls to 0-4 on the year, and travels to Olivet on Wednesday before returning home Saturday against Wittenberg.
9.12.09 - KOOMLER SCORES TWO IN 6-2 LOSS TO WILMINGTON
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to Wilmington 6-2 in the opening game of the St. Mary's Tournament on Saturday. Paige Koomler scored both goals for MC, scoring the first unassisted and the second goal on an Allison Moore assist.
Manchester falls to 0-3 on the year, and returns to action Sunday in the second round of action from St. Mary's.
9.5.09 - KOOMLER SCORES GAME WINNER OVER UM-DEARBORN
Manchester's Paige Koomler scored the lone goal of the game as Manchester defeated Univerisity of Michigan-Dearborn 1-0 on Saturday in the final game of the Hope Tournament. UM-Dearborn is a club team and all stats and the win do not get credited to the overall statistics for Manchester.
The Spartans return to action Saturday and Sunday at the St. Mary's (Ind.) Tournament.
9.4.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO ELMHURST 3-1 IN OPENING GAME OF HOPE TOURNAMENT
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to Elmhurst 3-1 in the opening game of the Hope College Tournament on Friday.
Elmhurst scored in the fifth minute of action
and again in the 24th minute of play to take a 2-0 lead. MC's Laura Jenkins scored in the 32nd minute on a Kendra Getz assist to cut the Elmhurst lead 2-1, but the Bluejays scored in the 42nd minute to take a 3-1 lead into the half.
Erica Hedges record 14 saves in the loss. Manchester drops to 0-2 on the year, and returns to action Saturday against the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the second round of the Hope Tournament.
9.1.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO GOSHEN 2-1 IN SEASON OPENER
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to Goshen 2-1 in the Spartans' season opener Tuesday. Ashley Scantena scored the tying goal in the 69th minute of of action on an Allison Moore assist. Goshen picked up the game winning goal in the 88th minute of action for the win. Erica Hedges recorded 10 saves for MC.
Manchester drops to 0-1 on the year, and returns to action this weekend at the Hope College Tournament.
08.11.09 - WOMEN’S SOCCER TO PLAY IN FORT WAYNE’S NATIONAL SOCCER FESTIVAL
Manchester College’s women’s soccer team will face Trine University in an exhibition game on Thursday, August 27 at 8:30 p.m. as part of the National Soccer Festival, held in Fort Wayne. The event was launched by newly appointed Trine soccer coach Terry Stefankiewicz in 2000 to showcase top-notch college and high school to Northeast Indiana, and nine men’s and women’s programs have kicked off their national championship seasons at the event. This year’s lineup includes Michigan State, Evansville, Indiana, Drake, Oakland, Akron, Ohio State, Louisiville, IPFW, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois-Chicago and Central Michigan are teams scheduled to participate.

Second-year coach Andrew Stout enters his second year as the head coach for the women's soccer program.
- Manchester placed fourth overall in the conference standings with a 5-3 record in league play
- Junior Paige Koomler, along with seniors Stephanie Phillips and Stephanie Taylor were named First Team All-HCAC.
- Kendra Getz was named HCAC Freshman of the Year in 2008.
- The team has won two HCAC Conference Tournament championships and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.
