
11.8.08 - SPARTANS FALL TO MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 1-0 IN FINALS OF HCAC TOURNAMENT
Manchester's women's soccer team came to a close on Saturday as they fell 1-0 to Mount St. Joseph in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Finals 1-0.
Mount St. Joseph scored in the 27th minute of action to take the 1-0 lead, and outshot Manchester 23-2 in the match. Erica Hedges notched 11 saves in the loss.
The Spartans finish the season 9-10-1 on the year.
11.5.08 - MANCHESTER POSTS 3-2 SHOOTOUT WIN OVER TRANSYLVANIA TO ADVANCE TO HCAC TOURNAMENT FINALS AT MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
Manchester's Paige Koomler scored the game-tying goal at the 88:37 mark to force two scoreless overtime periods and a 4-3 shootout win over #2 seed Translyvania in the semi-finals of the HCAC Conference Tournament on Wednesday.
Marie Humpolick tied the game in the 11th minute of action to force a 1-1 tie at the half. Transy scored in the 54th minute to take a 2-1 lead before Koomler tied the game on her 13th goal of the year.
In the shootout, both Transy and MC missed the first round. Kendra Getz made it 1-1 following the second round. Goalkeeper Erica Hedges blocked Transy's third and fourth attempts while MC capitalized as Humpolick scored in the third and Stephanie Phillips scored in the fourth round for MC, and Stephanie Taylor knocked in the fourth shootout goal of the game to give MC the right to advance to the finals on Saturday.
Manchester moves to 9-9-1 on the year and faces Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
11.1.08 - SPARTANS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH A 2-0 WIN OVER FRANKLIN, HEAD TO TRANSYLVANIA ON WEDNESDAY FOR HCAC TOURNAMENT
Manchester's women's soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Franklin on Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
Paige Koomler scored the game winner in the 19th minute of play unassisted for her 12th goal of the year. Stephanie Taylor headered in the insurance goal in the 56th minute on a Kendra Getz corner kick assist for her first goal of the year.
Erica Hedges picked up her sixth shutout win of the year for MC. The Spartans improve to 9-9 overall, 5-3 in the HCAC. They are a three-seed in the HCAC Tournament and will follow men's soccer action also at Transy which starts at 2 p.m., followed by the women at 5 p.m.
10.28.08 - KOOMLER SCORES TWO GOALS IN 3-0 WIN OVER DEFIANCE
Manchester College's women's soccer team posted a 3-0 conference win over Defiance on Tuesday. Junior Paige Koomler scored the game winner in the 18th minute of action to give Manchester a 1-0 lead at the half. Koomler scored again in the 57th minute, and assisted on the third goal of the game as Marie Humpolick scored in the 68th minute to give MC the 3-0 win. Erica Hedges had five saves in the shutout win.
Manchester improves to 8-9 on the year, 4-3 in the HCAC. They wrap up the regular season on Saturday as they host Franklin starting at noon.
10.25-08 - MANCHESTER POSTS 2-1 DOUBLE OVERTIME WIN AS LAUZON SCORES GAME WINNER
Manchester's women's soccer team posted a 2-1 double overtime win over Rose-Hulman on Saturday.
Stephanie Phillips scored at the 2:25 mark of the first half to give the Spartans a quick 1-0 lead. Rose-Hulman scored in the 85th minute in the second half to tie the game and force overtime. In the second overtime session, Kali Lauzon scored her second game winner of the year at the 106th minute mark on a Marie Humpolick assist to give Manchester the 2-1 win.
Erica Hedges added nine saves in the win as Manchester improves to 7-9 on the year, 3-3 in the HCAC. They host Defiance on Tuesday and close out the regular season on Saturday at home against Franklin.

First-year coach Andrew Stout takes over as the new head coach for the women's soccer program for the 2008-09 season.
- Manchester placed fourth overall in the conference standings with a 4-3-1 record in league play
- Paige Koomler, Erin McComas and Stephanie Taylor were named First Team All-Conference.
- Both Taylor and McComas were named to D3kicks.com National Team of the Week in 2007
- The team has won two HCAC Conference Tournament championships and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.
