Manchester College posted a 3-0 shutout win over Bluffton College on Wednesday. Paige Koomler scored two goals, including the game winner in the 9th minute of play to give MC a 1-0 lead at the half. Allison Moore scored on a Julia Pierce assist in the 54th minute, with Koomler scoring unassisted two minutes later for the 3-0 score.
Erica Hedges added five saves in the win for MC, who outshot Bluffton 28-9. Manchester improves to 6-9 on the year, 2-3 in the conference. They return to action Saturday as they host Rose-Hulman.
10.18.08 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 1-0
Mount St. Joseph scored in the 77th minute of play to take a 1-0 conference win away from Saturday's match with Manchester. The Spartans were outshot 24-2 in the contest, with Erica Hedges recording 16 saves in the game.
Manchester drops to 5-9 on the year, 1-3 in the HCAC. They return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Bluffton.
10.15.08 - SPARTANS FALL TO ALMA 2-0
Alma College jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first 18 minutes of action to post a 2-0 win over Manchester on Wednesday.
Erica Hedges recorded nine saves in the match for MC, who falls to 5-8 on the year. They return to action Saturday at Mount St. Joseph in HCAC action.
10.11.08 - MANCHESTER WINS SECOND STRAIGHT IN 7-0 WIN OVER ST. MARY OF THE WOODS
Manchester's women's soccer team posted a 7-0 win against St. Mary of the Woods in the tail end of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team on Homecoming.
Manchester got the game winner from Kendra Getz, who had one goal and one assist. Paige Koomler added three goals and an assist, Stephanie Phillips, Kali Lauzon and Jenny Smith also had goals for Manchester. Erica Hedges added three saves in the shutout win.
Manchester improves to 5-7 on the year, and returns to non-conference action Wednesday as they host Alma for a 4 p.m. contest.
10.8.08 - SPARTANS PICK UP FIRST CONFERENCE WIN IN A 1-0 VICTORY VERSUS ANDERSON
Manchester's women's soccer team posted a 1-0 win over conference rival Anderson University on Wednesday. Whitney Whitehair scored the lone goal for Manchester.
Manchester improves to 4-7 on the year, 1-2 in the HCAC. They host St. Mary of the Woods on Saturday at 2 p.m. in game two of a doubleheader scheduled with the men's soccer team, all part of Homecoming weekend.
10.4.08 - HANOVER DELIVERS 1-0 LOSS TO MC
The women's soccer team fell to visiting Hanover College on Saturday 1-0. The Panthers scored early in the second half to take the 1-0 victory. erica Hedges recorded six saves for Manchester.
MC falls to 3-7 on the year, 0-2 in the conference. They return to action Wednesday as they travel to Anderson for a 2 p.m. contest.
9.27.08 - TRANSY HANDS MC FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS, 4-0
Manchester fell to Translyvania 4-0 in MC's first conference game of the season. The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead into the half and outshot the Spartans 24-4.
MC falls to 3-6 on the year, 0-1 in the HCAC. They return to action at Olivet on Wednesday and host Hanover on Saturday.
9.24.08 - EARLHAM TOPS MANCHESTER 4-2
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to Earlham College Tuesday 4-2. Manchester got a goal from Kendra Getz in the 38th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the half. Earlham bounced back to score two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half before Paige Koomler tied the game with a goal in the 61st minute on an Ashley Scantena assist. Earlham went on to score in the 65th and 85 minute of action to take the 4-2 win.
Manchester drops to 3-5 on the year and begins conference play on Saturday as they travel to Transylvania for a doubleheader with the men's team also in action.
9.19.08 - ADRIAN DEFEATS MANCHESTER 1-0
The women's soccer team fell to Adrian 1-0 in road action Friday night. Adrian scored 23 seconds into the second half to take the 1-0 lead and the win.
Erica Hedges recorded three saves for MC, who was outshot 15-4 by the Bulldogs.
Manchester drops to 3-4 on the year and returns to action on Tuesday at Earlham for a 5 p.m. start.
9.16.08 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO HUNTINGTON 4-1
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to visiting Huntington University 4-1 in action Tuesday. Huntington jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the half, but MC's Ashley Scatena scored on a Stephanie Phillips assist to pull Manchester within one, 2-1 in the 50th minute of play. Huntington scored again in the 53rd and 65th minute to take the 4-1 lead.
Manchester moves to 3-3 on the year and travels to Adrian on Friday.
9.13.08 - SPARTANS WIN 2-1 OVER GOSHEN IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Manchester's women's soccer team needed double overtime on Saturday to defeat Goshen College 2-1. Kali Lauzon scored unassisted for Manchester in regulation to force overtime.
In the second extra session Paige Koomler scored on a Kendra Getz assist to give MC the win.
Manchester moves to 3-2 on the year and returns to action Tuesday at home against Huntington.
9.10.08 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO ALBION 2-0
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to host Albion 2-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday. Albion scored in the 6th and 65th minute of play to pick up the win. Spartan goalkeeper Erica Hedges recorded three saves for Manchester, who falls to 2-2 on the year. Manchester returns home on Saturday as they host Goshen with a noon start.
9.3.08 - SPARTANS PICK UP SECOND WIN OF SEASON IN 2-1 WIN OVER

Manchester rallied to post a 2-1 win over St. Mary's on
Wednesday to improve their overall record to 2-1 on the year under
first year head coach Andy Stout.
Manchester gave up a goal in the 26th minute of play to give St.
Mary's a 1-0 halftime lead. An extended halftime session due
to lightning helped MC regroup as Paige Koomler scored in the 48th
minute on a Marie Humpolick assist to tie the game. In the
68th minute, Paige Winey scored the game winner on an Ashley Scatena
assist.
Erica Hedges recorded five saves to help MC in the win.
Manchester returns to action next Wednesday at Albion for a 5 p.m.

6.15.08-ANDREW STOUT NAMED NEW WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH
Athletic Director Rick Espeset has named Andrew Stout the new head coach for the women's soccer program at Manchester College.
Stout comes to Manchester after serving one year as the head boys' coach at Richardson High School (Texas). He has prior women's collegiate soccer coaching experience as an assistant coach at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas and Indiana State University. No stranger to Northeast Indiana, Stout was an assistant coach at East Noble High School and was the head coach for various club soccer teams in Fort Wayne.
“I am really excited to have Andy joining the Manchester College community and our coaching staff," says Espeset. "He has a desire to contribute to the growth of our student athletes and a strong passion for the game of soccer. With eleven years of coaching experience we expect him to hit the ground running and continue to the success of our women’s soccer program.”
4.1.08 - STAN STEPS DOWN AS HEAD WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH, TAKES POSITION WITH TAYLOR UNIVERSITY
Manchester College women's soccer coach Scott Stan has resigned as head women's soccer coach for Manchester College to take the same role at Taylor University and serve as an assistant director of athletics.
Stan spent seven years at Manchester and is the school's all-time wins leader as a coach with a 74-50-11 overall record. He has guided Manchester to a pair of conference tournament championships, two NCAA National Tournament automatic qualifiers and has been named HCAC Coach of the Year three times.
Stan also served as an associate professor within the exerice and sports sciences department and other administrative roles with the college.
A national search is underway to find his replacement.
10.31.07-MANCHESTER FALLS TO ROSE-HULMAN 4-2 IN HCAC SEMI-FINALS
Manchester's women's soccer team fell to Rose-Hulman 4-2 in the semi-final round of the HCAC Conference Tournament on Wednesday. Manchester trailed 3-0 until Kali Lauzon scored in the 73rd minute of play following a Paige Koomler assist. Rose picked up its fourth goal of the afternoon before Paige Koomler scored at the 88th minute on a Stephanie Phillips assist to make the 4-2 final.
Manchester ends the year 7-10-3 overall.
10.27.07-MANCHESTER FALLS 3-1 TO TRANSY, PLACE FOURTH IN THE CONFERENCE AND TRAVEL TO ROSE-HULMAN WEDNESDAY FOR HCAC TOURNAMENT
The MC women's soccer team fell to Transyvania 3-1 in the final game of the regular season on Saturday. Manchester trailed 1-0 at the half, and tied the game in the 73rd minute of play as Paige Koomler scored her 15th goal of the season on a Kali Lauzon assist. Transylvania scored 51 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead, and added an insurance goal in the 88th minute of play to take the 3-1 win.
Manchester falls to 7-9-3 overall, finish the conference at 4-3-1. The Spartans will travel to Rose-Hulman in the opening game of the HCAC Conference Tournament starting on Wednesday.
10.25.07-D3KICKS.COM NAMES TAYLOR AND MCCOMAS TO NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
Manchester College had two players on the D3Kicks.com National Player of the Week list as Erin McComas and Stephanie Taylor were selected after they helped MC pick up their third straight.
McComas, a senior forward, scored a pair of goals in the 3-0 win over Defiance and the 3-1 win over Grace, and has eight goals on the year. The Defiance win helped MC secure a spot in the conference tournament which starts next Wednesday.
Taylor, a junior defender, scored a goal in the 3-1 win over Grace and in the 3-1 win over conference foe Anderson. Taylor has two goals and three assists on the year for MC, and is a two-time All-Conference selection.

Manchester wraps up the regular season at home on Saturday as they host Transylvania starting at 12 p.m.
