4.26.08 - SPARTANS FALL IN OPENING ROUND OF HCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester's men's tennis team fell to Franklin 5-0 in the opening around of the HCAC Conference championships on Saturday. 

Jeremy Patterson fell to Franklin's Brad Lowe 6-1, 6-2 at three singles while Dustin Schutte fell 6-1, 6-1 to Ben Ahlbrand at six singles.  In doubles action, Andrew Tkacs and Josh Walker fell 8-4 in one doubles, Craig Craun and Jeremy Patterson fell 8-4 at two doubles and Dan Beedle and Kyle Watson fell 8-2 at three doubles. 

4.17.08 - MANCHESTER DROPS 7-2 CONTEST TO DEFIANCE IN FINAL HCAC MATCH OF THE SEASON
Defiance defeated Manchester 7-2 in men's tennis action on Thursday as the Spartans wrapped up the conference regular season schedule. 

Winners for Manchester included Craig Craun and Kyle Watson at three doubles in an 8-5 win, and Dustin Schutte posted a two-set win at six singles, winning 6-4 and 6-1.

Manchester moves to 2-10 overall, 2-6 in the HCAC. Their final match of the regular season is at home on Wednesday against Huntington, then compete in the HCAC Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

4.12.08 - MC FALLS TO HANOVER, FRANKLIN
Manchester's men's tennis team fell to Hanover 5-1 and Franklin 5-0 in conference action Saturday at the Warsaw YMCA.  The lone winner for the Spartans in the Hanover match was Dustin Schutte at six singles. 

Manchester falls to 2-9 overall, 2-5 in the HCAC.  They wrap up the conference regular season on Thursday as they travel to Defiance.

4.7.08 - SPARTANS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT IN 5-4 HCAC WIN OVER BLUFFTON
Manchester's men's tennis team posted a 5-4 conference win over Bluffton on Monday to move to 2-3 in the HCAC. 

Manchester took wins at one and two doubles as Andrew Tkacs and Josh Walker won at one doubles, along with Jeremy Patterson and Dan Beedle at two doubles.  The Spartans had wins at two singles from Walker, Craig Craun at five singles and Dustin Schutte at six singles. 

MC improves to 2-7 overall, and returns to action on Saturday as they host Hanover and Franklin starting at 9 a.m.

4.5.08 - MANCHESTER GRABS FIRST CONFERENCE WIN OF SEASON, 9-0 AGAINST MOUNT ST. JOSEPH

Manchester's men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Mount St. Joseph for their first conference win of the season.  Winners for Manchester at one through six singles included Andrew Tkacs, Josh Walker, Jeremy Patterson, Dan Beedle, Craig Craun and Kyle Watson.  In doubles action, Manchester had winners from Walker/Patterson, Tkacs/Beedle and Craun/Dustin Schutte at one through three doubles. 

The Spartans fell 7-2 to Anderson in the second match of the day, as Craun and Schutte picked up wins at five and six singles. 

Manchester moves to 1-7 on the year, 1-3 in the HCAC.  They host Bluffton on Monday in a rescheduled game from late March.

Eric Christiansen will enter his first season as head coach for the men’s and women’s tennis teams this year, which compete in the fall and spring seasons. The North Manchester native has spent 11 years as the boys and girls tennis coach at Manchester High School.
  • The women’s team has won 36 straight conference matches dating back to 2002.
  • The women’s team has captured five straight HCAC championships.
  • The women’s team qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in 2006.
