
5.23.09 - KIMMEL WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN HIGH JUMP
Manchester College junior John Kimmel won the Division III 2009 NCAA Track and Field title in the high jump on Saturday, clearing 2.12 meters (6'-11 1/2") on his second attempt, edging out Zach Shew of McMurry University, who successfully cleared 6'-10 1/4" (2.11 meters) to place second.
Kimmel qualified just a week ago at the North Central Last Chance meet, and headed into the NCAA Championships with the second best height of the year at 2.11 meters. Kimmel has qualified for three NCAA Championships, and recently placed 12th overall at this year's indoors nationals. He joins former Spartan track and field national champions David Glassburn, also in the high jump, Brenda Ramsey in the indoor and outdoor 5k, Amy Petersime in the 100 meter hurdles and wrestling's Darrell Carr.
Joining Kimmel in competition at the NCAA Championships were junior Korey Bucher and sophomore Kailey Honn. Bucher won his heat in Friday's preliminary to advance to Saturday's finals. He finished third overall, setting a school record for the fourth time this year with a time of 47.68. Honn went on to finish 12th overall out of 25 competitors. Both Kimmel and Bucher earn All-American honors and Manchester ended the event 14th in the nation under tenth year head coach Brian Cashdollar.

5.16.09 - KIMMEL HITS AUTOMATIC MARK IN HIGH JUMP AND BECOMES THIRD SPARTAN GOING TO NATIONALS
Junior John Kimmel cleared 2.11 meters in the high jump, hitting the automatic qualifying standard to become the third Manchester College student-athlete to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Division III National Championships starting Thursday, May 21.
Kimmel enters the NCAA Championshpis with the second best height in the nation at 6'11". He joins Kailey Honn, who will compete in the women's high jump and has the seventh best height this season nationally with a height of 5'5-3/4'' and Korey Bucher, who will compete in the men's 400 meter dash, and has the third best time in Division III with a time 47.75 seconds.
Bucher will compete in the preliminaries on Friday, with the finals on Saturday. The high jump competition will start on Saturday. For complete track and field information visit the NCAA Championship website.
5.9.09 - HONN QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS, BUCHER SETS NEW RECORD IN 400 METER
Manchester competed at the North Central last chance meet last Thursday and Friday and the Spartans qualified a third person for the meet as Kailey Honn cleared 1.67m in the high jump to qualify for nationals. Her mark currently ranks her seventh overall in the nation. She joins John Kimmel in the high jump and Korey Bucher in the 200 and 400 meters as provisional qualifiers.
Bucher broke the school record in the 400 meter dash for the third time this year, breaking his own record with his new time of 47.75. His time currently ranks him third in NCAA Division III times.
5.2.09 - BUCHER BREAKS OWN RECORD IN 400 AT PACESETTERS INVITE
Manchester College junior Korey Bucher broke his own 400 meter dash record set back on April 11 at the Pacesetters Invite hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday.
Bucher's time of 48.18 broke his time of 48.27 set at the Little State Invite. Bucher currently ranks sixth in the nation for the best posted time in Division III.
The Spartans return to action at the North Central Invite this Saturday.
4.29.09 - BUCHER, CASHDOLLAR NAMED CONFERENCE BEST
Manchester's Korey Bucher was selected as the HCAC's Most Outstanding Runner following Manchester's second place finish at the Hartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships last week. Head coach Brian Cashdollar was voted as HCAC Conference Coach of the Year after leading the women to their first conference championship since 1993.
Bucher, a native of Plymouth, Ind., was a two-time conference champion at the HCAC meet, winning the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.64 and the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.16. Along with his championship in the 200 meters, Bucher became a provisional qualifier for the 200 meter dash at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He has also provisionally qualified for the 400 meter dash.
Head coach Brian Cashdollar notched his third HCAC Coach of the Year award after being selected for the award following Manchester's women's track and field team winning the overall team standings at the conference meet. Manchester had individual champions in Emma Weiler in the high jump, Jessi Bremer in the 3000 meter steeplechase, and the women's 4x400 team of Rachel Murray, Stephanie Phillips, Bremer and Weiler.
Along with Bucher, Beau Bradtmiller was selected to the All-Conference team after winning the pole vault event for the men, while Phillips, Weiler, Bremer and Murray were named All-Conference. Honorable mention went to John Kimmel on the men's track team.
4.25.09 - MANCHESTER WOMEN WIN HCAC CONFERENCE TITLE, MEN PLACE SECOND
Manchester's women's track and field team edged Defiance by 1.5 points to claim the HCAC Conference team title and brought home three individual conference champions. The men's track and field squad placed second overall in the team standings and also brought home three individual conference championships.
On the women's side, Emma Weiler won the high jump, Jessi Bremer captured the 400 meter hurdles, and the women's 4x400 relay team—consisting of Bremer, Weiler, Rachel Murray and Steph Phillips— took first place. Second place awards went to Jessi Bremer in the 3000 meter steeplechase, Kailey Honn in the high jump, and Tiffany Alva in the 10,000 meter run. Third place finishes came from Casey Loshe in the high jump, Steph Phillips in the 800 meter and Nichole Swoverland in the 400 meter hurdles.
In the men's events, Beau Bradtmiller captured the conference title in the pole vault, and Korey Bucher won both the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes. Second place went to John Fagan in the pole vault, John Kimmel in the high jump, long jump and triple jump, Zach Bradley in the javelin and Kyle Pletcher in the 10,000 meter run. Third place awards went to Chris Rowe in the 400 meter and Kyle Pletcher in the 5,000 meter run.
Korey Bucher provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 meters at the meet, and previously set a provisional mark in the 400 meters at the Little State Invite. Conference Coach of the Year and outstanding track performers will be announced later this week by the HCAC office.
4.18.09 - MANCHESTER HOSTS SPARTAN CLASSIC; THREE PLACE FIRST IN EVENTS
Manchester played host to the 2009 Spartan Classic on Saturday, where three Spartans finished first in their events. Winners on the day for MC included Greg Lane in the 110 high hurdles, Beau Bradtmiller in the pole valut and Ryan Smith in the shot put.
In other men's results, second place finishes went to Korey Bucher in the 200, Chris Rowe in the 400 and John Kimmel in the high jump. Third place finishes went to Kyle Pletcher in the 3000 meter, Smith in the discus and Adam Miller in the javelin.
On the women's side, second place finishes went to Dana Cronin in the triple jump, Rachel Murray in the 400, Megan Miller in the 3000 meter, Jessi Bremer in the 400 meter hurdles, and Lindsay Machamer in the shot put. Third place went to Tiffany Alva in the 3000, Nicole Swoverland in the 100 meter hurdles, Jessie Boursier in the 3000 meter steeplechase, the 4x400 relay team, Kaily Honn in the high jump, Emily Ballinger in the pole vault, Holly Ripley-Nifong in the long jump, and Hanna Reed in the triple jump.

4.11.09 - BUCHER NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFIER IN 400 METER, MEN 9TH, WOMEN 10TH AT LITTLE STATE
Manchester's track and field team took part in the 2009 Little State meet, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan with the women placing 10th overall and the men taking ninth.
Top place winners for Manchester include Korey Bucher, who provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a second place finish in the 400 meter dash and set a new school record in the process. He ran a 48.27 to meet the provisional standard. Kailey Honn took third place in the high jump, while fifth place finishes went to Jessi Bremer in the 400 meter hurdles and 3000 meter steeple chase, John Kimmel in the high jump and Beau Bradtmiller in the polve vault.
Manchester returns home Saturday for their second invitational of the year starting at 11 a.m.
4.4.09 - MANCHESTER HOSTS INVITE, EIGHT PLACE FIRST IN EVENTS
Manchester College played host to the 2009 Manchester Invite on Saturday, with eight Spartans and a 4x400 team placing first. The women placed second overall while the men took first in the team standings.
Individual winners for Manchester included Kailey Honn in the high jump, Korey Bucher in the 400, Nick Albright in the 800, Greg Lane in the 400 meter hurdles, Beau Bradtmiller in the pole vault, Ryan Smith in the discus and John Kimmel in the high jump and triple jump. Kimmel's height of 6' 10" ranks him first among Division III athletes this season.
Second place honors went to Emma Weiler in the 800, Megan Miller in the 1500, Jessi Bremer in the 400 meter hurdles, Casey Loshe in the high jump, Taylor Clifford in the pole vault, Holly Ripley-Nifong in the long jump, Dana Cronin in the triple jump, Lindsey Machamer in the shot put, Greg Lane in the 110 high hurdles, Zach Bradley in the 400 meter hurdles and Ryan Smith in the shot put.
Manchester takes part in the Little State Meet this coming Saturday.
3.28.09 - FIVE SPARTANS WIN AT HANOVER INVITE
The Manchester College track and field team kicked off the outdoor portion of their season Saturday at the Hanover Invitational, with the men and women each taking sixth place in the team standings.
Manchester had five individual championships, including Korey Bucher in the 400 with a time of 49.43, Jennifer Beakas in the 10,000 meter run in 40:29, Jessi Bremer in the 3,000 meter steeple chase in 12:26, John Kimmel in the high jump with a height of 6' 4" and John Fagan in the pole vault, with a height of 13' 5 1/4". Stephanie Phillips took second in the 800 meter run, while third place finishes went to Nick Albright in the 800 and Chris Rowe in the 400 meter run.
Manchester returns to action Saturday at the Manchester Invite.
3.14.09 - KIMMEL PLACES 11TH AT NCAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester College junior John Kimmel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Elmhurst) placed 11th overall at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, hosted by Rose-Hulman.
Kimmel cleared 6-6 3/4, matching the best height of the eighth place finisher, but based on missed jumps moved him to 11th place overall. 3.7.09 - THREE SET RECORDS AT DEPAUW INVITE, KIMMEL PROVISIONAL QUALIFIER FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester's track and field team set a pair of records at the DePauw Indoor Qualifier on Friday. Freshman Ryan Smith set a school record in the weight throw, while Kailey Honn and Casey Loshe tied for a new school record in the high jump.
Other first place finishes came from John Kimmel in the high jump, who moved into 8th in the national standings and is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Beau Bradtmiller won the pole vault for MC. Smith took second place in the weight throw, while third place fnishes went to Stephanie Phillips in the 800 meter, Lindsey Machamer in the shot put, Korey Bucher in the 400, and Jarius Burt in the long jump and the triple jump.
2.28.09 - WOMEN TAKE FOURTH, MEN SIXTH AT ANDERSON INVITE
Manchester's track and field teams took part in the Anderson University Fred Wilt Tournament on Saturday with the women placing fourth out of ten teams and the men taking sixth out of 11 schools.
Top place winners for Manchester were Kailey Honn in the high jump with a height of 5' 1-3/4", John Kimmel tied for first in the men's high jump with a leap of 6' 3", Beau Bradtmiller won the pole vault at 15' 0". Ryan Smith took second in the shot put, Holly Ripley-Nifong was second in the 55 meter hurdles and long jump, while Jessi Bremer too second in the 3000 meter steeplechase and Casey Loshe took second in the high jump.
Manchester returns to action Friday at the DePauw University Qualifier.
2.21.09 - WOMEN SECOND, MEN THIRD AT HOOSIER-BUCKEYE MEET
Manchester's track and field squad took part in the Hooiser-Buckeye Meet hosted by Rose-Hulman on Saturday, where the women finished second out of seven teams and the men placed third overall.
Individual champions for Manchester came from John Kimmel in the high jump, Emily Ballinger in the pole vault, Korey Bucher in the 400 meter, Jennifer Beakas in the 5000 meter and the women 4x400 relay team consisting of Jessi Bremer, Jessica Boursier, Rachel Murray and Steph Phillips. Second place honors went to Ryan Smith in the weight throw, Lindsey Machamer in the shot put, Casey Loshe in the high jump, Jessi Bremer in the mile run and Steph Phillips in the 800 meter. Jasmyne Ahmad was third in the 55 meter dash.
Manchester travels to the Anderson Invite on Feb. 28.
2.7.09 - WOMEN PLACE FIRST, MEN THIRD AT ANDERSON INDOOR INVITE
Manchester's men's and women's indoor track and field teams took part in the 2009 Anderson University Indoor Invite on Saturday, with the women taking first place in the team standings while the men placed third.
Winners on the women's side included Emily Ballinger in the pole vault and the distance medley relay, Jessi Bremer in the 1000 meter and the MC 4x400 relay team. Second place finishes went to Jasmyne Ahmed in the 55 meter, Megan Miller in the 5000 meter, Emma Weiler in the mile, Kathleen Thayer in the 55 meter hurdles, Casy Loshe in the high jump and Lindsay Machamer in the shot put.
On the men's side, winners for MC included Zach Bradley in the 55 meter hurdles, Chris Rowe in the 400 meter and the 4x400 relay team and John Kimmel in the high jump. Second place awards went to Andy Williams in the mile, Ryan Smith in the weight throw and John Fagan in the pole vault.

1.24.09 - MANCHESTER COMPETES AT ROSE-HULMAN INVITE
Manchester College took away five individual champions from the Rose-Hulman Indoor Invite on Friday. In the women's events, Stephanie Phillips took first in the 400 meter dash, Megan Miller won the 3000 meter run and the women's 4x400 team of Phillips, Jessi Bremer, Emma Weiler and Megan Miller placed first. MC got second place finishes from Casey Loshe in the high jump, Jasmyne Ahmad in the 55 meter dash and Jennifer Beakas in the 3000 meter run.
In the men's events, Manchester got first places from John Kimmel in the high jump with a leap of 6'8" and ranks fourth in the nation and Chris Rowe in the 400 meter dash. Second place awards went to Beau Bradtmiller in the pole vault, Andy Williams in the mile run and the men's 4x400 relay team of Rowe, Shawn Yoquelet, Dan Nave, Nick Albright.
Manchester returns to action at Anderson on February 7.
1.10.09 - SPARTAN WOMEN TAKE FIRST, MEN SECOND AT HUNTINGTON FROZEN FOREST INVITE
Manchester College's indoor track and field season got underway on Saturday as Manchester's women took first of three teams while the men took second out of three schools.
Winners for Manchester in the women's events were Jessica Burnell in the 55 meter dash, Jessi Bremer in the 800 meter, Megan Miller in the 1600 meter, Tiffany Alva in the 3200 meter, the MC 4x800 team of Emma Weiler, Megan Miller, Steph Phillips and Jessi Bremer), Emma Weiler in the high jump, and Kelsey Box in the pole vault.
In the men's division, MC took away event winners with John Kimmel in the high jump and Raine Young in the long jump.
The track and field team competes at Rose-Hulman on Friday, Jan. 23.

As a college athlete, Coach Brian Cashdollar was a four-year letter winner and two-time captain at Ball State University, scoring points in each of his conference meets. Now, in his ninth year of coaching at Manchester, he continues the success of a program that has produced 52 Academic All-Americans, 20 Athletic All-Americans and three national champions.
- The women’s team placed second and the men took fifth at the HCAC Championships in 2007-08.
- Manchester had four individual champions at the HCAC Meet, including Kailey Honn in the high jump, Rebecca Varnes in the long jump, Jessi Bremer in the 400 meter hurdles and John Kimmel in the high jump.
