
11.11.11 - DICKMAN NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE
Manchester College’s Amanda Dickman (Batesville, Ind.) was named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference team for volleyball. Dickman has played in a career 121 games at Manchester and leaves as the all-time blocks leader with 359, blocks in a match leader with 13 and career service aces with 145. She has ranked in the top 10 nationally in blocks for NCAA Division III schools and was ranked first in the country in late September. She ranked first in the conference in blocks and points scored per set and fourth in aces. Dickman is an Elementary Education major and is also an Academic All-Conference award winner.
10.29.11 - MANCHESTER FALLS IN FIVE TO TRANSYLVANIA
The Manchester College women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2011 season with a 3-2 loss to Transylvania, with game scores of 26-24, 17-25, 25-22, 27-25, 15-7.
Stacie Hoffman paced MC with 17 kills and had 11 digs. Amanda Dickman added 12 kills and a team high 22 digs. Kristi Staton had 11 kills and nine digs, while Mallory Kirkwood had 36 assists and 15 digs in the match.
Manchester ends the season 13-15 overall, 2-7 in the HCAC.
10.26.11 - MC PICKS UP 3-2 WIN OVER ANDERSON
Manchester picked up a 3-2 win over Anderson on Wednesday, with game scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 15-9.
Amanda Dickman led MC with 28 kills, six solo blocks and seven block assists and had 19 digs for Manchester. Stacie Hoffman added 18 kills and 15 digs. Whitney Piatt had 21 digs to lead the team, while Kristi Staton added 10 and Mallory Kirkwood added 13 digs and 53 assists.
Manchester improves to 13-14 overall, 2-6 in the conference. They will wrap up the season Saturday at home as they host Transylvania for Senior Day.
10.22.11 - SPARTANS FALL TO MOUNT ST. JOSEPH AND OTTERBEIN
Manchester's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 matches to Mount St. Joseph and Otterbein on Saturday.
Game scores in the Mount St. Joseph contest were 25-19, 25-13, 25-22. Amanda Dickman led the way with 14 kills, adding five digs and three block assists. Kelsie Fieler added eight digs, while Mallory Kirkwood had 12 assists.
MC fell to Otterbein 25-11, 25-18, 25-18. Dickman led the way with nine kills, while Fieler added five. Kelsey Barta had 11 assists and Makenna Hamilton recorded nine digs.
Manchester falls to 12-14 on the year, 1-5 in the conference. They will wrap up home play on Wednesday as they host Anderson with a 7 p.m. start.
10.15.11 - MC POSTS FIRST CONFERENCE WIN OVER EARLHAM, FALLS TO ADRIAN
Manchester's volleyball team notched its first conference win of the year on Saturday after a 3-0 win against Earlham. Game scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-17.
Stacie Hoffman led the way with 11 kills for Manchester. Amanda Dickman added eight kills and five solo blocks. Whitney Piatt had six kills, four digs and three service aces. Kelsey Barta had 26 assists and 11 digs.
In the second game of the day, Manchester fell to Adrian 3-1, with game scores of 27-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18. Kristi Staton led with 12 kills, while Dickman added 10 kills, six digs, four block assists and two solo blocks. Kelsey Fieler and Whitney Piatt each had eight kills, with Piatt adding 19 digs. Alyssa Shaffer had 26 digs to lead the team and Barta added 23 assists.
Manchester moves to 12-12 on the year, 1-5 in the conference. They will travel to Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
10.8.11 - SPARTANS FALL IN FIVE SETS TO FRANKLIN
Manchester fell to Franklin 3-2 in conference action on Saturday. Franklin took the first two sets 25-19 and 29-27 before MC staged a two-set rally, taking games three and four 25-22 and 25-23. Franklin pulled out a game five victory 17-15 to pick up the win.
Manchester drops to 11-10 overall, 0-4 in the HCAC. They will travel to Rose-Hulman on Sunday.
10.5.11 - SPARTANS FALL TO ST. FRANCIS 3-1
Manchester fell 3-1 in volleyball action to St. Francis on Wednesday night.
Manchester fell 25-19 in game one, 25-20 in game two, rallied to post a win in game three 26-24 before falling in game four 25-17.
Amanda Dickman led the Spartans with 12 kills and four solo blocks, while Stacie Hoffman added nine kills.
Whitney Piatt added six kills and 11 digs, Makenna Hamilton had 19 kills and Kristi Staton had 12. Mallory Kirkwood had 31 assists and 11 digs in the loss.
Manchester falls to
11-7 on the year and will travel to Franklin on Saturday.
10.1.11 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO HANOVER, DEFEATS KALAMAZOO
Manchester's volleyball team fell to Hanover 3-1, but picked up a 3-1 win over Kalamazoo in home action Saturday.
In the Hanover match, the Panthers defeated MC 25-16, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23. Stacie Hoffman led MC with 11 kills and Amanda Dickman added nine. Mallory Kirkwood had 28 assists and 16 digs, while Whitney Piatt led the way with 17 digs.
Manchester won in four against Kalamazoo, winning game one 25-21, falling in game two 25-21 and posting wins of 25-18 and 25-21 to close out the match. Hoffman had 12 kills, Dickman nine with Makenna Hamilton and Piatt adding eight kills and four aces. Alyssa Shaffer had 17 digs and two service aces.
Manchester moves to 11-8 overall, 0-3 in conference play. They will host St. Francis on Wednesday.
9.28.11 - MC FALLS TO BLUFFTON 3-0 IN CONFERENCE ACTION
Manchester's volleyball team fell to Bluffton 3-0 in HCAC action Wednesday night. Game scores were 25-20, 25-22, 25-12.
Stacie Hoffman led the way with 12 kills and three solo blocks. Kelsie Fieler and Amanda Dickman each had five kills. Fieler added 11 digs, while Alyssa Shaffer and Whitney Piatt added 10 digs.
Manchester falls to 10-7 on the year, 0-2 in the conference. They will host Hanover and Kalamazoo on Saturday.
9.24.11 - MANCHESTER RALLIES TO DEFEAT ADRIAN 3-2, FALLS TO ST. MARY'S 3-0
Manchester came back from being down two sets to defeat Adrian 3-2, but fell to St. Mary's 3-0 in action from St. Mary's on Saturday.
Adrian took the first two sets 25-10 and 25-21 before Manchester took the final three sets 25-23, 25-18 and 15-4 to post the 3-2 win. Stacie Hoffman had 14 kills to lead Manchester. Whitney Piatt and Kelsie Fieler added 12 kills each, and Amanda Dickman added 10 kills. Dickman had two solo and two assisted blocks. Mallory Kirkwood had 41 assists while Alyssa Shaffer posted 22 digs and Piatt added 21 digs.
The Spartans fell in three sets to St. Mary's 25-21, 26-24, 27-25. Hoffman had nine kills while Fieler added eight and Dickman had seven. Kirkwood had 26 assists and 10 digs to lead the team.
Manchester moves to 10-6 on the year and will return home on Wednesday to face Bluffton in conference action starting at 7 p.m.
9.21.11-MC FALLS TO DEFIANCE IN FIVE
Manchester dropped its conference season opener on Wednesday night, falling to Defiance 3-2, game scores of 18-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 15-11.
Amanda Dickman led the way with 17 kills, while Stacie Hoffman added 14. Whitney Piatt had nine kills and eight digs, Mallory Kirkwood had 45 assists, Kristi Staton and Alyssa Shaffer had 16 and 14 digs, respectively.
The Spartans fall to 9-5 on the year, 0-1 in the HCAC. They will travel to St. Mary's on Saturday for a tri-meet with Adrian.

Manchester College senior Amanda Dickman currently leads all of NCAA Division III players in blocks per match, while Manchester as a team leads the country in blocks per match. SPARTANS PICK UP TWO WINS AT MANCHESTER INVITE, MARLOWE COACHES HER CAREER 100TH WIN
Manchester's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins in the opening day competition of the 2011 Manchester College/ Pizza Hut Invitational on Friday.
The Spartans opened with a 3-0 win over Wilmington, marking MC's third straight win over Wilmington this year. Game scores were 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.
Amanda Dickman led the way with 14 kills and three solo blocks. Stacie Hoffman added 13 kills and two block assists while Mallory Kirkwood added 39 assists and Alyssa Shaffer led the team with 15 digs.
The Spartans picked up a three set win over Albion in the second game, winning 25-21, 25-22, 25-17. Kelsie Fieler had 11 kills for Manchester and Hoffman added 10. Dickman had six solo and one block assist for MC. Kirkwood added 28 assists with Shaffer tallying 18 digs on the day.
The wins move Manchester to 8-3 on the year, and gives head coach Kendra Marlowe her career 100th win spanning over her tenure at Manchester and Lawrence University.
Manchester resumes action at 11 a.m. Saturday where they will face
Capital.
9.12.11-DICKMAN NAMED ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM AS MANCHESTER FINISHES 3-1 AT ROSE-HULMAN INVITE
Manchester's volleyball team posted a 3-1 record at the 2011 Rose-Hulman Invitational over the weekend to finish third overall in the team standings.
MC opened with a 3-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan, with set scores of 25-9, 25-21, 25-21. Stacie Hoffman and Whitney Piatt had seven kills each, while Mallory Kirkwood added 22 assists. The Spartans went on to defeat Wilmington 3-2 with scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 23-25 and 15-10. Hoffman had 14 kills, followed by Amanda Dickman with 12 and Kelsie Fieler with 11. Kirkwood had 43 assists while Alyssa Shaffer had 23 digs and Piatt tallying 19 digs in the contest.
In Sunday's action, Manchester fell to DePauw 3-0, 25-15, 25-17, 25-20. Hoffman paced MC with 11 digs while Dickman added nine. MC closed out the tournament with a 3-0 win over Eureka 25-12, 25-17, 25-17. Hoffman had 13 kills for the Spartans and Dickman had nine. Piatt added 13 kills and Kirkwood ended the game with 34 assists.
Manchester
improves to 6-3 on the year and will host the Manchester College/Pizza Hut Invitiational on Friday and Saturday.
9.7.11 - MC POSTS 3-0 WIN AGAINST EARLHAM
Manchester's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 non-conference win over Earlham on Wednesday, scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-19. Kelsie Fieler and Amanda Dickman each had 10 kills for MC, while Mallory Kirkwood added 31 assists and 13 digs. Fieler had 10 digs for MC and Dickman recorded four solo blocks and two assisted in the win.
Manchester improves to 3-2 on the year and will travel to the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
9.3.11 - SPARTANS EVEN OUT SEASON FOLLOWING TWO WINS AT OHIO WESLEYAN INVITE
Manchester's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday to finish the Ohio Wesleyan Volleyball Invite with a 2-2 record.
Manchester rallied from two games down to pick up a 3-2 win over host Ohio Wesleyan, falling in the first two sets 25-13, 25-17, and picked up wins in the final three sets 26-24, 25-21, 15-13 to notch their first win of the year. Manchester also went on to defeat Wilmington 25-20, 25-17, 25-12.
Manchester improves to 2-2 on the year and will travel to Earlham for a non-conference match on Wednesday.
9.2.11 - SPARTANS FALL IN SEASON OPENER AT OHIO WESLEYAN TOURNAMENT
Manchester's volleyball team fell to Denison 3-0 and Grove City 3-1 in the opening rounds of the 2011 Ohio Wesleyan Bishop Invitational.
Manchester dropped the first two sets 25-18 and 25-19 to Grove City, picked up a 25-17 set in the third, but fell in the fourth 25-12, and lost 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 to Denison to end the night.
Manchester returns to action Saturday as they face Ohio Wesleyan and Wilmington.
8.2.11-MC VOLLEYBALL TEAM EARNS NATIONAL ACADEMIC HONORS
Manchester's women's volleyball team was one of 478 teams to receive national recognition by the National Volleyball Coaches Association's Team Academic Award.
The award recognizes collegiate and high school teams that earned a cumulative 3.3 on a 4.0 scale for the 2010-11 school year. Manchester was one of 88 Division III programs to earn recognition. For a complete list of schools included, visit the AVCA website.
11.10.10 - PEDEN, NASH NAMED HONORABLE MENTION
Manchester College seniors Lauren Nash and Christa Peden were named to the HCAC honorable mention All-Conference team for the 2010 season.
Nash has been a four-year starter at the setter position. and was the 2007 HCAC Freshman of the Year and has been a three-time All-Conference selection. She has served as a team captain for last three years. She leaves the program as the all-time assists (3,914) and assists per set (9.0) leader, and will be top five in service aces and digs.
Peden has made a tremendous impact on the team at the middle hitter position. She has played in 118 matches over the past four years and leaves the team as the all-time leader in kills (1,199), kills per set (2.85), attack percentage (.232), and total blocks (303). Peden has been a three-time All-HCAC selection.
10.30.10 - SPARTANS FALL TO TRANSYLVANIA AND SPALDING 3-0 TO CONCLUDE SEASON
Manchester's volleyball team fell to host Transylvania 3-0 and Spalding 3-0 to wrap up the 2010 season.
Manchester fell 25-20, 25-14, 25-12 against Transylvania in conference action. Christa Peden led the way with six kills, Stacie Hoffman added four kills and Amanda Dickman had three. Lauren Nash posted 16 assist and six digs.
Versus Spaulding, Manchester lost 25-23, 25-21, 25-18. Peden led the team with eight kills, Kelsie Fieler added five kills and 11 digs, and Dickman recorded four kills and two block assists.
Manchester finishes the season 8-21 overall, 3-6 in conference play and finished eighth in the HCAC standings.

Kendra Marlowe is in her fifth year as head coach for the Spartan volleyball program. She led the team to their second-straight winning season last year. Prior coming to MC, Coach Marlowe was the head coach at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where her team set a school record for most wins in a season. |
