3.9.12 - BRADY WINS OPENING MATCH, LOSES IN QUARTERFINALS
Manchester College sophomore Cameryn Brady picked up a win by pin in the opening match of the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships on Friday, defeating Ryan Earley of Elmhurst in 6:43. Brady, seeded sixth at the tournament, held an 8-3 advantage over Earley before he set up the pin with 17 seconds left in the match.

Brady was pinned in the 2:12 mark of the first round by three-seed Zac Andrews of Delaware Valley and dropped to the consolation round, where he faced Drew Wagenhoffer of Wartburg, with Wagenhoffer taking a 7-2 decision to end Brady's season with a 36-6 overall record.

3.5.12 - PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Manchester College sophomore Cameryn Brady (Lowell, Ind./Lowell H.S.) gears up for his second trip to the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships starting on Friday. Brady qualified for nationals after winning the 149 pound weight class at the NCAA Midwest Regional. He is seeded-sixth in the tournament and will face Ryan Earley of Elmhurst in the opening rounds starting Friday, March 9. 2.25.12 - BRADY WINS 149 POUND REGIONAL TO ADVANCE TO NATIONALS, SIMPSON TAKES 6TH

Manchester College sophomore Cameryn Brady qualified for his second trip to the NCAA Division III following his first place finish at the 2012 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional, hosted by Case Western Reserve.

Brady opened up with a win by pin in 2:15 over Thiel's Shawn King, and posted a 4-1 decision versus Gage Pederson to advance to the championship round. In the championship match, Brady was able to pick up a 2-1 decision over Jake Strausbaugh in a battle of the seventh nationally ranked Brady against eighth Strausbaugh. With the win Brady automatically qualifies for the NCAA National Championships, hosted by LaCrosse, Wis. on March 9 and 10.

Manchester's 125 pounder Garth Simpson finished sixth overall as the only other place winner for the Spartans. Simpson picked up a win in the final seconds with a pin over Shayduan Velez-Lara of Thiel in 6:48, but fell in his sdecond match by pin to top seeded Robert Bidlingmaier of Olivet. Simpson fell 7-4 to Collin Lesko of Alma and lost to Tommy Poynter of Wabash to place sixth.

2.16.12 - PEDIGO'S PIN GIVES MC A 23-20 WIN OVER MT. ST. JOSEPH IN DUAL MEET, BRADY NAMED MOST OUTSTANDING WRESTLER

Manchester's wrestling team closed out the regular season Thursday with a 23-20 win over Mount St. Joseph in the HCAC Dual meet. Manchester opened with a win by forfeit by Garth Simpson, but surrendered the 133 pount match. MC's Justin Zienta lost at 141 by a 20-6 major decision, but Cameryn Brady tied the meet up with a 14-5 major decision at 149. Grant Anglemyer lost 9-5 at 157, but Chandler Pogue's 14-4 major decision at 165 gave Manchester a one point, 14-13 lead. Ryan Monce added three more points on the scoreboard with a 15-8 decision at 174. The Lions took the lead after Casey Bushong lost 10-2 at 184 and Chad Ulmer's 2-1 loss at 197, setting up a 20-17 Mount St. Joseph lead heading into the final match of the night. MC's Jason Pedigo recorded a win by pin in :23 to give Manchester the 23-20 win.

Sophomore Cameryn Brady was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for the HCAC Duals.

The Spartans will return to action Feb. 25 as they travel to Case Western Reserve for the NCAA Midwest Regional.

2.11.12 - MANCHESTER TAKES SIXTH AT MIDSTATES, PEDIGO FINISHES SECOND OVERALL
Manchester's wrestling team finished sixth out of six teams at the 2012 Midstates Wrestling Conference Tournament on Saturday, where four Spartans placed. Manchester was led by Jason Pedigo, who took second overall at 285. Pedigo posted a 10-0 major decision over Charlie Kempf of Alma, defeated Shane Hendrickson in a 3-2 overtime decision and won over Josh Mitchell of Manchester 6-1 to advance to the championship round, where he fell 13-3 to Jake Ceslick of Olivet. Other Spartans placing at the meet include Grant Anglemyer, who took fourth at 157, Josh Mitchell placed fifth at 285 and Garth Simpson placed seventh at 125.

2.7.12 - TRINE DEFEATS MANCHESTER 28-13
Manchester's wrestling team fell to visiting Trine University 28-13 in dual meet action Tuesday night. Garth Simpson picked up a quick six points for Manchester following his win by pin in 4:03 at 125 pounds. Cameryn Brady had a 14-5 major decision at 149, while Jason Pedigo used overtime to post a 2-1 win at 285.

Manchester moves to 5-11 in dual meets this year and will be in action Saturday at the Midstates Wrestling Tournament hosted by Mount St. Joseph.

1.28.12 - TWO SPARTANS PLACE AT WHEATON INVITATIONAL
Manchester College had two wrestlers place at the 2012 Wheaton College Pete Willison Invitational over the weekend.

Cameryn Brady finished third overall at 149, as he lost his opening match but won his next six, including two wins by forfeit, two major decisions and a tech fall to go 6-1 at the invite. Chandler Pogue finished 4-2 at the meet at 165 pounds and placed seventh overall, taking a win by pin in :53 and three decisions. For a complete list of bout brackets, click here.

Manchester will resume action Tuesday, Feb. 7 as they host Trine for a 7:30 p.m. dual meet.

1.21.12 - WRESTLING FINISHES 2-1 AT WHEATON DUALS
Manchester's wrestling team posted a pair of wins at the 2012 Wheaton Duals, defeating host Wheaton 23-13 and Concordia (Wis.) 24-15, but fell to #30 Augustana 25-16.

In the Wheaton match, Garth Simpson picked up a win by pin in 1:12 at 125 pounds to give MC a 6-0 lead. Cam Brady posted a tech fall in 6:47 with a 20-4 score at 149, Chandler Pogue picked up an 8-4 decision at 165, Ryan Monce had a win by pin in 2:33 at 174, and Jimmie King posted an 8-4 decision at 285.

Simpson opened the Augustana match with a 14-1 major decision at 125, followed by Brady's 6-2 decision at 149, Casey Bushong's 4-1 decision at 197 and King's quick pin in :31 at 285. Against Concordia, Manchester had wins from Brady at 149 with his second technical fall of the day with a time of 5:15, Grant Anglemyer was a 12-6 winner at 157, Pogue posted an 11-3 major decision at 165, Monce added a win by pin in 2:21 and King notched his second first round pin of the day with a fall time of 1:58.

Manchester will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational.

1.17.12 - SPARTANS FALL TO WABASH 30-10 IN DUAL MEET
Manchester picked up three wins in Tuesday night's 30-10 loss to Wabash College in dual meet action. Winners for Manchester included Cameryn Brady, who was a 14-5 major decision winner at 149 pounds, Grant Anglemyer was a 7-5 winner at 157 pounds, and Jimmie King notched a 3-0 decision at 285.

Manchester will resume dual meet action Saturday as they travel to Wheaton College.

1.14.12 - SPARTANS PLACE NINE AT MC MAT CLASSIC Final Brackets
Manchester finished third in the team standings, edging out Olivet by one point and had nine place winners at the 18th Annual Spartan Mat Classic on Saturday.

Manchester had two individual champions on the day, as sophomore Cam Brady took first at 149 pounds and junior Jimmie King took first at 285. Brady was a 10-7 decision winner over Mark Savenok of Wheaton in the championships, while King posted a 12-4 major decision over Tyler Smith of Heidelberg.

Other place winners for Manchester include Ryan Monce, second at 174 pounds, Chandler Pogue, third at 165, Grant Anglemyer, fourth at 157, Jason Pedigo, and sixth at 285. Garth Simpson at 125 and Casey Bushong at 197 each took seventh place, while Joshua Mitchell was 8th at 285.

Cam Brady was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, ending the day 4-0.

Manchester will return to action Tuesday as they host Wabash in dual meet action, followed by a road dual meet at Wheaton on Saturday.

1.12.12-MANCHESTER FALLS TO #8 OLIVET 38-8
Manchester's wrestling team took to dual meet action Thursday after an extended break, falling to #8 ranked Olivet 38-8. Winners for Manchester included Cam Brady, who got a major decision in a 18-6 win at 149 pounds, and Grant Angelmyer who posted a 14-6 win at 157 pounds. Drew Graber suffered a 6-4 overtime loss at 184 pounds, and Chad Ulmer fell in a close 3-1 decision in favor of Olivet.

Manchester returns to action Saturday in the day-long Spartan Mat Classic, starting at 9 a.m.

12.18.11 - MANCHESTER FINISHES 0-4 AT THE DESERT DUALS INVITE IN LAS VEGAS
Manchester's wrestling team finished 0-4 at the 2011 Desert Duals Invitational, held in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Manchester fell to Wartburg 45-3, as Cam Brady was a 5-3 winner at 157 pounds for the Spartans' only win of the match. MC was nipped 21-20 by Coe College with wins coming from Drew Miller at 149 with a win by pin in 2:15, Cam Brady at 157 with a 9-4 decision, Chandler Pogue at 174 with a win by pin in 3:49 and Jimmie King at 285 with a win by forfeit.

Manchester dropped a 31-13 contest to Simpson, with wins coming from Brady at 149 in a major decision, Drew Miller at 184 and King at 285 in a 6-0 decision. MC fell to Concordia 33-9 in the fourth match of the day. Winners for MC included Garth Simpson at 125, Brady at 149 and Drew Graber at 184.

12.9.11 - SPARTANS FALL TO #23 OHIO NORTHERN 30-13
Manchester's wrestling team hosted #23 Ohio Northern in dual meet action Friday night, falling to the Polar Bears 30-13. Winners for Manchester included Cameryn Brady at 149 pounds as he picked up a major decision 18-5, Grant Anglemyer was a 7-3 winner at 157 and Ryan Monce posted a win by pin in 2:40 at 184 pounds. Johnnie Carter narrowly missed MC's fourth win of the night as he fell 8-6 at 125 pounds.

Manchester travels out west to the Desert Duals Invitational in Las Vegas on Sunday, Dec. 18.

12.3.11 - BUSHONG WINS 197 POUNDS AT LITTLE STATE, ACHENBACH SECOND AT 141 POUNDS
Manchester's wrestling team had seven place winners at the 2011 Little State Wrestling Tournament, hosted by Wabash College.

MC's Casey Bushong was the individual champion at 197 pounds as he finished 3-0 on the day, posting a 5-0 win over Indianapolis, a 5-4 decision over Wisconsin-Whitewater and a 6-5 decision in the championships over Luke Weber of Muskingum. Mike Achenbach took second at 141 pounds, while Chuck Holmquest 141 and Cam Brady at 149 took fourth. Ryan Monce at 174 and Jimmie King at 285 took fifth place finishes and Garth Simpson was seventh overall at 125.

Manchester will return to action Friday, Dec. 9 as they host Ohio Northern in dual meet action starting at 7:30 p.m.

11.19.11 - MC GOES 1-3 AT OLIVET SUPER DUALS
Manchester's wrestling team faced a pair of nationally ranked opponents at Saturday's 2011 Olivet Duals Invitational.

MC fell to #18 Wis.-Whitewater 28-13, where Chuck Holmquest, Cam Brady, Grant Anglemyer and Chandler Pogue picked up wins. Wis.-LaCrosse defeated Manchester 39-6 as Cam Brady and Drew Graber posted wins. The Spartans lost to #11 North Central 38-16, as Brady, Graber and Jimmie King all had wins, and MC posted a 26-17 win over Alma as Holmquest, Brady, Drew Miller, Ryan Monce, Graber, Casey Bushong and King each won for Manchester.

Overall at the Super Duals, Cam Brady finished 4-0 with a win by pin at 149 pounds. Drew Graber was 3-1 on the day at 184 pounds, Jimmie King was 2-1 at heavyweight and Chuck Holmquest was 2-0 on the day at 141 pounds. Grant Anglemyer at 157, Drew Miller, along with Chandler Pogue at 165, Ryan Monce at 174 and Casey Bushong all posted a win throughout the day.

Manchester will return to action at the 2011 Little State Wrestling Meet hosted by Wabash College on Dec. 2 and 3.

11.12.11 - GRABER TAKES FIRST, BRADY THIRD AT WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSON INVITE
Manchester's wrestling team had two place winners at Saturday's Washington and Jefferson Invitiational. Drew Graber at 184 finished first with a 4-0 record and Cam Brady took third place at 149 pounds, as he went 3-1 on the day.

Graber opened up with a win by pin in 2:18 against Penn St. Beaverton's Tairo Mass, and followed that with a 12-2 decision over Elijah Flasher of Thiel and a 2-1 win over Sean O'Connel of Unionville. In the championship, he defeated Nikos Garofola of Greensburg 8-3 to finish first. Cam Brady opened his bracket with a 9-1 win over Jacob Durbin of Penn State Fayetteville and a 6-1 win over Brutus Scheffel of West Virginia University. He lost 3-1 to eventual champion Art Hobly of West Liberty and posted a win by forfeit to finish third.

Other wrestlers competing for Manchester were 125 Johnnie Carter (1-2), 141 Chuck Holmquest (1-2) and Mike Achenbach (0-1), 149 Justin Zienta (0-1) and Drew Miller (0-1), 157 Grant Anglemyer (2-2), 174 Spencer Blatz (0-2), Ryan Gossett (0-2), and Clint Fisher (1-2), 184 Jeremy Pogorzelski (2-2), 197 Casey Bushong (1-2) and Chad Ulmer (0-2), and 285 Jason Pedigo (1-2), Jimmie King (1-2), Gabe Zimmerly (2-2) and Mark Collett (2-2).

Manchester returns to action Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Olivet Open.

Manchester's wrestling team fell to host Washington and Jefferson 26-17 in dual action Friday night. Winners for Manchester included Cam Brady at 157 pounds, as he picked up a 15-6 major decision. Ryan Monce also posted a win at 174 pounds as he posted a win by pin in 6:51, while Chad Graber was a 9-0 major decision winner at 184 pounds and Chad Ulmer took a 3-2 win at 197 pounds.

Manchester will be in action on Saturday as they take part in the Washington and Jefferson Invitational.

BRADY NAMED D3WRESTLE.COM FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR

Manchester College first year student-athlete Cameryn Brady (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) was named Freshman of the Year at 149 pounds by D3wrestle.com, a website devoted to covering NCAA Division III wrestling.

Brady finished 34-11 overall in his first season of collegiate wrestling and was the school's lone qualifier to the NCAA Division III National Championships as he entered as a wild card entry following his second-place finish at The NCAA Midwest Regional.


3.11.11 - BRADY FINISHES 1-2 AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester College's Cam Brady fell to Isiah Britton of Lycoming College in a 4-1 decision in the second round of wrestling action after receiving a first-round bye at the NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships on Friday. Brady trailed 2-0 after the first period following a Britton take down. Brady closed the gap after the second period earning a one-point escape, but gave up one point to a penalty and another to riding time to take the 4-1 loss.

In the consolation bracket, Brady posted a 9-3 win over Martin Bell of Merchant Marines Academy. He had two take downs in the first period and a third in the second period to take a 6-2 lead into the third period. He added a two-point reversal and an additional riding time point to take the 9-3 win. In the consolation third round bracket, Brady fell to James Locke of host school Coe College 13-0 and was eliminated from the tournament. Brady finishes the season 34-11.

2.26.11 - CAM BRADY ADVANCES TO NCAA DIVISION III NATIONALS, SPARTANS PLACE 8TH AT NCAA REGIONAL
Manchester College freshman Cam Brady was named as a wild card at 149 pounds after his second place finish at the 2011 NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by Wabash College.

Brady opened the tournament with a pin in 6:30 over Olivet's Gage Pederson. He won 4-2 over Wabash's Jake Strausbaugh to advance to the championship round, where he lost to top-seeded Isaac Dukes of Case Western Reserve. He was the only wild card selected from the regional meet. Other place winners were Jared Snyder, fifth at 133 pounds, Ryan Monce took sixth place at 165 and Chad Ulmer also finished sixth at 184 pounds, going 2-2 in the tournament.

2.17.11 - SPARTANS FALL TO MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 34-9 IN DUAL MEET ACTION
Manchester's wrestling team fell to Mount St. Joseph 34-9 in dual meet action Wednesday night from MC's Stauffer-Wolfe Arena to close out the regular season competition.

Winners for MC were Cam Brady by forfeit at 149 and Ryan Monce, who was a 6-3 decision winner over Billy Malicote.

Manchester will take part in the NCAA Midwest Regional starting next Saturday, hosted by Wabash College.

2.12.11 - NINE SPARTANS PLACE AS MC FINISHES FIFTH AT MID-STATES CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Manchester played host to the 2011 Mid-States Wrestling Conference Championships, finishing fifth out of five teams with nine place winners on the day.

Manchester was led by Jared Snyder at 133 pounds, 141 pounder Chuck Holmquest, 157 pounder Chandler Pogue, 184 pounder Chad Ulmer and heavyweight Jimmie King, all of whom finished fourth place in the tournament. Jeremy Pogorzelski at 165 and Casey Bushong at 197 pounds finished sixth place, while Jason Pedigo took eighth place at heavyweight.

While not active for the Mid-States meet, freshman Cam Brady was named Mid-States Wrestling Conference Freshman of the Year. Brady is currently 29-8 on the year.

The Spartans return to dual meet action on Thursday as they host Mount St. Joseph for the HCAC Conference Dual Meet starting at 7:30 p.m.

2.4.11 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO TRINE 25-16 IN DUAL MEET ACTION

The Spartan wrestling team fell to host Trine University 25-16 in dual meet action Friday night. Manchester picked up wins at 133 as Jared Snyder won by forfeit, Cam Brady picked up a major decision at 141 pounds with an 8-0 victory, and Jimmy King posted a win by pin in 5:57 at heavyweight.

The wrestling team resumes action on Saturday as they host the annual Midstates Wrestling Meet starting at 9 a.m.

1.29.11 - BRADY PLACES FOURTH, SPARTANS TAKE 19TH AT 2011 WHEATON INVITE
Manchester's wrestling team finished 19th out of 32 schools at the 2011 Pete Willson Wrestling Invitational on Saturday.

Leading the way for Manchester was 141 pounder Cam Brady, who finished fourth place overall, going 5-2 on the day with two pins. Jimmie King went 3-2 on the day with two wins recorded by pin at the heavyweight division. Chandler Pogue at 157 pounds and Drew Graber at 174 pounds each finished 2-2 overall at the meet, while Chuck Holmquest was 1-2 at 141 pounds.

Manchester will travel to Trine on Friday for a dual meet scheduled for 7 p.m.

1.22.11 - SPARTANS FINISH 1-3 AT WABASH COLLEGE SUPER DUALS
Manchester's wrestling picked up a 32-18 win over Knox, but fell to Central 31-12 in Pool D action, and fell to Muskingum 38-8 and Ohio Northern 25-19 in placing round matches from the 2011 Wabash College Max Servies Duals Meet.

Top wrestlers on the day for Manchester included Cam Brady, who took four wins by decision at 149 pounds, Chandler Pogue recorded four wins, including one by pin at 157 pounds, Ryan Monce and Jeremy Pogorzelski recorded wins at 174, while Chad Ulmer had one win by decision at 184. Casey Bushong recorded a win by pin at 197, and heavyweight Jimmie King recorded two pins on the day.

1.19.11 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO WABASH 33-9
Manchester's wrestling team fell to Wabash in dual meet action 33-9 Wednesday night at Wabash.

Winners for Manchester included Jared Snyder, who took an 8-3 decision over Oscar Trujillo at 133 pounds and Jimmie King, who recorded a win by pin in 1:08 over Patrick Clegg at heavyweight. Cam Brady lost a 149 in a 5-3 decision to Jake Strausbaugh, Ryan Monce fell in a 5-3 decision at 174 to Dalton Stanley and Casey Bushong fell 4-2 to Austin Oneil at 197 for three of the many competitive matches on the evening.

Manchester will return to Wabash Saturday, Jan. 22 for the Monon Bell Duals starting at 9 a.m.

1.15.11 - MANCHESTER TAKES FOURTH AT SPARTAN MAT CLASSIC, BRADY AND KING FINISH SECOND
Manchester College played host to the 17th annual Spartan Mat Classic on Saturday, with the Spartans placing fourth out of 11 teams.

Place winners for Manchester included Cam Brady at 149 and Jimmie King at heavyweight, who both advanced to the championship match and finished second overall. Ryan Monce finished third at 174 as did Chad Ulmer at 184. Chandler Pogue took fourth place at 157 pounds, while Jared Snyder took seventh at 133 pounds.

The University of Indianapolis won the team title with 186.5 points, followed by North Central (160.5), Mount St. Joseph (106.5), Manchester (90), Wilmington (60.5), Ohio Northern (49.5), Knox (44), Heidelberg (40), Southern Indiana (37.5), Wheaton (34.5), and IPFW (12.5) in 12th place.

Jimmie King of Manchester recorded the most falls award with three pins in a combined time of 2:33. Nick Walpole of the University of Indianapolis was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.

1.11.11 - SPARTANS FALL TO #8 OLIVET 39-3
Manchester's wrestling team fell to #8 ranked in the nation Olivet College 39-3 in Tuesday night's dual meet.

Cam Brady was the lone winner for Manchester, taking a 6-1 decision at 149 pounds. MC moves to 2-2 in dual meet action for the season and prepares for Saturday's 17th Annual Spartan Mat Classic, which starts at 9 a.m.

1.7.11 - MC POSTS A PAIR OF DUAL MEET WINS OVER CONCORDIA (WI) AND CALUMET - ST. JOSEPH
The Manchester College wrestling team returned to action for the first time in 2011, picking up a pair of wins in dual meet action on Friday. Manchester posted a 34-3 win over Concordia (WI) and a 23-18 win over host Calumet College of St. Joseph.

Against Concordia, Manchester got wins from Jared Snyder in a 9-6 decision at 125, Cam Brady in a 19-7 major decision at 149, Chandler Pogue by forfeit at 157, Kurt Monix in a 4-2 win at 165, Andrew Graber posted a win by pin in 2:30 at 174, Chad Ulmer won in a 7-5 decision at 184, Casey Bushong won by pin in 4:43 at 197 and Jimmie King won in an 11-4 decision at heavyweight.

In the Calumet match, both teams went into the final match tied at 18-18, with heavyweight King of Manchester picked up a 3-2 decision for the team win. Other winners for Manchester included Brady at 157 by tech fall 21-6, Chandler Pogue in a 4-2 decision at 165, Ryan Monce at 174 and Graber at 184 each won by forfeit.

Manchester moves to 2-1 on the year in dual meet action, and will host #8 in the nation Olivet starting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and will host the Annual Spartan Mat Classic on Saturday.


12.10.10 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO OHIO NORTHERN 40-4
MC's wrestling team fell 40-4 to #19 in the country Ohio Northern in dual meet action Friday night. Manchester's Cam Brady picked up a 16-6 major decision for the Spartans at 149 pounds. Chandler Pogue lost a close 7-6 decision at 157 pounds, while Chad Ulmer fell 8-5 at 184.

Manchester returns to action Jan. 1 as they travel to the Midwest Open hosted by Harper College.

12.04.10 - MANCHESTER PLACES FOUR WRESTLERS AT THE 2010 LITTLE STATE TOURNAMENT

Manchester College played host to the 51st annual Little State Wrestling Tournament and had four wrestlers place.

Cam Brady led the Spartans with a second place finish at 149 pounds. He ended the day 4-1 overall with a 7-3 loss in the championship match. Jimmy King took fifth place at the heavyweight division and ended the day 4-2. Ryan Monce took sixth place at 174 points and Cruz Dyson placed eighth at 194 pounds for MC.

Jake Strausbaugh of Wabash was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament and James Zarate of Wisconsin-Whitewater had the Most Falls in Least Time award, with three pins in 5:56.

Manchester will travel to Ohio Northern on Friday for a dual meet starting at 7 p.m.

11.20.10 - BRADY WINS ALL FOUR MATCHES, MC FALLS, AT OLIVET DUALS
Manchester finished 0-4 on the afternoon at the Olivet College Duals on Saturday. The Spartans opened with a 46-3 loss to Wartburg. Cam Brady won 5-2 at 149 pounds for the lone win of the match. MC fell 35-9 to Heidelberg as Chase Lewandowski won 5-0 at 141 pounds, Brandy picked up a 7-2 decision and Chandler Pogue won 7-4 at 157 pounds.

MC fell to Oakland 27-23 as Jared Snyder won by forfeit at 125, Brady had a major decision 20-9, Pogue won by tech fall 16-1, Ryan Monce won 8-6 at 174 and Chad Ulmer won 6-0 at 184 pounds. The Spartans closed out with a 36-6 loss to Wisconsin Whitewater with Brady and Pogue picking up decisions.

Manchester hosts the Indiana Little State Meet on Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday, Dec. 4.

11.13.10 - BRADY TAKES FIFTH AT MICHIGAN STATE FR./SO. OPEN
First year wrestler Cam Brady took fifth place at the Michigan State Freshman/Sophomore Open Division wrestling tournament on Saturday. Brady opened the tournament with his second win of the year over Michigan's Collin Zeerip in a 5-2 decision. He defeated Dylan Marriott of Northwestern 9-3, and picked up a 10-3 win over Weston Davis of the University of Illinois. He fell to Brad Square of Ohio University 12-2 in the semi-finals, and lost to Matt Smith of Northern Illinois 10-7, putting him in the 5th/6th place championship round bracket, where he won by injury.

The Spartans will resume action Saturday at the Olivet Invitational.

11.6.10 - BRADY FINISHES SECOND IN FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE OPEN AT EASTERN MICHIGAN
Manchester's wrestling season officially got underway over the weekend as Manchester took part in the Eastern Michigan Open. First year wrestler Cam Brady finished second overall at 149 pounds in the Freshman/Sophomore open division. Brady started out with an 11-3 win over Cody Washington of Lindsey Wilson, then went on to defeat Corey Dunchan of Lindenwood 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals. There he defeated Collin Zeerip of the University of Michigan 5-2 and defeated his second Division I opponent of the day, Ryan Watts of Michigan State 5-1, before falling to Jacob Salazar of Michigan by pin in the championship match. Chandler Pogue finished sixth at 157 pounds, while Drew Graber finished 2-2 on the day.

Manchester will host their annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Tuesday and return to action Saturday at Michigan State.

8.23.10 - BURLINGAME NAMES WALSH NEW ASSISTANT COACH

Head wrestling coach Matt Burlingame as announced the hiring of Patrick Walsh as the staff’s new assistant coach.
Walsh, a native of Leesport, Pennsylvania, was a 100 match winner for perennial Pennsylvania state powerhouse Schuylkill Valley High School.  He was a two-time Pennsylvania state qualifier and earned a 4th place finish during his senior year.  Walsh attended college at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.  As a wrestler there he was a four-year starter and two-time team captain for the Mountain Cats.  Walsh had an outstanding career amassing 104 career victories, placing him 18th on UPJ’s all-time career wins list.  Walsh also holds the school record for wins at 197 pounds.  He was a three-time NCAA Division II national qualifier and earned All-American honors by placing 6th his senior season.  In the NCAA tournament Walsh defeated the top ranked wrestler in the country.  He also defeated the eventual national champion twice during the regular season.  Walsh, a history major, was equally successful off the mat earning Academic All-American honors in 2009 and 2010.  He also orchestrated the Mountain Cat Wrestling team’s community service project “Eat Smart. Play Hard” taking the message of nutrition and exercise to local elementary schools.  Additionally, Walsh served two terms as the Vice-President for Pitt-Johnstown’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Manchester College head coach Matt Burlingame is excited about the new addition to his program.  “Patrick epitomizes the vision of the Manchester College wrestling program – to be the best wrestlers on the mat, the brightest scholars in the classroom and the best men in our communities” he said.  “Not only does Patrick come from a college program that boasts 136 All-Americans and 10 National Champions.  He also comes from a program renowned for its commitment to community service and caring for its kids. Patrick is a perfect fit!” Burlingame said.

WRESTLING ANNOUNCES TWO SUMMER CAMPS
MC wrestling coach Matt Burlingame has scheduled two summer wrestling camps at Manchester College for 2010. The first is a Spartan Connection Camp on June 9-11, where wrestlers from Michigan State and Manchester College will combine efforts with coaches from Mishawaka High School to provide instruction and live competition. A Heartland Wrestling Camp is scheduled for July 7-10 on the campus of Manchester College. Coaches from Manchester, Mount St. Joseph and Mishawaka High School will emphasis basic fundamentals and incorporate new techniques in the four-day camp. 2.20.10-MC 8th AT NCAA MIDWEST REGIONAL
Manchester's wrestling team wrapped up the 2009-10 season Saturday, placing eighth out of ten teams at the 2010 NCAA DIII Midwest Regional, hosted by Delaware Valley State.

Kurt Monix at 165 pounds and Spencer Fulk at 285 pounds each placed fourth overall, while fifth place finishes went to Alex Filer at 125, Chandler Pogue at 157 and Chad Ulmer at 174.

2.12.10 - SPARTANS FALL TO MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 44-4

Manchester fell to Mount St. Joseph 44-4 at the HCAC dual meet for the 2009-10 season. Chuck Holmquest took a major decision at 133 pounds for the lone Spartan win of the meet.

Manchester gears up for the 2010 NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by Delaware Valley State on Saturday.

2.6.10 - MANCHESTER PLACES FIFTH AT MID-STATES MEET
Manchester finished fifth overall at the 2010 Mid-States Wrestling Invitational, hosted by Wabash College.

Individual place winners for Manchester were Alex Filer, third at 125, Chuck Holmquest, fourth at 133, Adam Ulmer, sixth at 149, Chandler Pogue, fifth at 157, Chad Ulmer, sixth at 174, Shawn Deetz, sixth at 197 and Spencer Fulk, third at 285.

Manchester will travel to Mount St. Joseph on Friday for the HCAC Dual meet.

1.30.10 - MANCHESTER PLACES 30TH AT WHEATON INVITE
Manchester's wrestling team finished 30th overall at the 2010 Wheaton Invitational over the weekend. Manchester's Chad Ulmer finished 2-2 overall at 174 pounds, and Kurt Monix ended the tournament 1-2 at 165 pounds.

MC returns to action at the Mid-States Wrestling Invite, hosted by Wabash on Saturday.

1.28.10 - SPARTANS FALL TO MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 28-24

Manchester's wrestling team fell to Mount St. Joseph 28-24 in dual meet non-conference action on Thursday. Winners by forfeit for Manchester were Alex Filer at 125, Neeko Paris at 133 and CHuck Holmquest at 149. Kurt Monix recorded a win by pin in 4:29 at 165 pounds for the other Spartan win of the night.

Manchester resumes action this Friday and Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational.

1.23.10 - MC GOES 2-2 AT MONON BELL DUALS
Manchester finished 2-2 overall at the Monon Bell Duals, hosted by Wabash College on Saturday.

Manchester opened with a 24-23 win over SLCC- Meramec, as Manchester took four forfeits in the contest for the one-point win. MC lost to Lincoln 35-9, with wins coming from Charles Holmquest at 133 and a forfeit at 184. The Spartans defeated the University of Indianapolis 36-11, as Alex Filer had a major decision at 125, Adam Ulmer won by decision at 149, Chandler Pogue won by pin at 157, Kurt Monix won at 184 pounds and Chad Ulmer won at 197 pounds. In the final match of the day, MC fell to Muskegon 36-7 as Filer won at 125 and Monix posted a win at 165 pounds.

Manchester returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational.

1.19.10 - MC FALLS TO WABASH 27-12 IN DUAL MEET ACTION
Manchester's wrestling team fell to Wabash 27-12 in a dual meet Tuesday night. Manchester's 125 pounder Alex Filer lost in overtime 13-12 to Josh Boyer in the opening match, and lost by decision and pin at 133 and 141 before Adam Ulmer won by injury default at 149. Chandler Pogue posted a 9-4 decision at 157 to make it a 12-9 Wabash lead in the team scoring. Following a loss at 165, Chad Ulmer picked up a 4-2 decision at 174 to make it 15-12 Wabash. MC lost the next two matches at 184 and 197, with Casey Bushong losing 5-3 in overtime at 285.

Manchester travels to Wabash on Saturday for the Monon Bell Duals.

1.16.10 - MANCHESTER PLACES SIXTH AT SPARTAN MAT CLASSIC

Manchester's wrestling team finished sixth place out of 18 teams at the 16th annual Manchester College Spartan Mat Classic on Saturday (event summary). Kurt Monix placed second overall at 165 pounds. Other place winners for Manchester in the meet included Chandler Pogue's fifth place, sixth place finishes from Alex Filer at 125, Corey Martinez at 133, Chad Ulmer at 174 and Spencer Fulk at heavyweight. Chris Chasteen took seventh at 174 and Shawn Deetz took eighth at 197.

Campbellsville won the team title, scoring 190 points. J.T. Rowe, North Central's 133 pounder was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler, and Eric Meyer of Mount St. Joseph recorded the Most Pins/Least Time award.

Manchester returns to action at home on Tuesday, where they host Wabash in dual meet action.


1.12.10 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO OLIVET 30-12
Manchester dropped a 30-12 contest to Olivet in dual meet action Tuesday night. Alex Filer opened the meet with a win by pin in 4:49 at the 125 pound weight class. Chandler Pogue defeated Ben Hitchcock 7-5 at 157 and Spencer Fulk notched a 4-2 decision in his first match of the season at heavyweight.

Manchester falls to 0-3 in dual meet action and return home on Saturday as they host the Spartan Mat Classic.

1.8.10 - CALUMET DEFEATS MC 34-17
Manchester's wrestling team fell to Calumet College of St. Joseph 34-17 in dual meet action Friday night.

Alex Filer of Manchester opened the meet with a technical fall in 3:30 at the 125 pound weight class to give Manchester a 5-0 lead. CCSJ picked up three consecutive pins before MC's Chandler Pogue picked up a 6-0 decision at 157. Chad Ulmer picked up a 7-4 decision at 184 and Chris Chasteen won by forfeit at 197.

Manchester falls to 0-2 in dual meet action and returns to action Tuesday at Olivet and hosts the annual Spartan Mat Classic on Saturday, Jan. 16.

1.3.10- SPARTANS PLACE 20TH AT MIDWEST CLASSIC
Manchester's wrestling team placed 20th overall at the Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. Manchester had three wrestlers record wins and one wrestler place in the tourament.
Alex Filer took fifth place overall at 125 points, finishing the two day tournament with a 4-2 record. Chuck Holmquest was 1-2 overall at 133 and Kurt Monix was 2-2 at 165 pounds.

12.11.09 - MC FALLS TO OHIO NORTHERN 46-4 IN DUAL MEET ACTION
Manchester lost to visiting Ohio Northern 46-4 in dual meet action Friday night. Manchester opened with a 13-3 win by 125 pounder Chuck Holquest. Jason Ray at 133, Andy Brisbin at 141, Adam Ulmer at 149 and Chandler Pogue at 157 fell by pin, as did Chad Ulmer at 174. Kurt Monix lost 6-0 at 165, Chris Chasteen fel 16-4 at 184 and Casey Bushong lost 2-1 at 285.

Manchester returns to action January 2 and 3 at the Midwest Classic, hosted by Indianapolis.

12.5.09 - TWO WRESTLERS PLACE AT LITTLE STATE
Manchester's Neeko Paris took eighth place at 125 pounds and Chandler Pogue placed fourth at 157 as Manchester took part in the 50th annual Little State Meet hosted by Trine University.

Paris finished the meet 1-3 overall, while Pogue ended with a 3-2 record. Casey Bushong finished with a 3-2 record at heavyweight to round out the top finishers at the meet.

Manchester returns home Friday as they host Ohio Northern in dual meet action.

11.21.09 - SPARTANS TAKE PART IN CONCORDIA INVITE
Manchester's wrestling team took part in the 2009 Concordia (WI) Open over the weekend, with four wrestlers picking up two or more wins in the open. Chandler Pogue finished 3-2 at 157 pounds. Jimmie King made his collegiate debut with a 2-1 record, upsetting the ninth and eighth seeded wrestlers in the tournament at 197 pounds. Chad Ulmer at 184 and Chuck Holmquest at 125 each finished 2-2. Andy Brisbin and Chris Kimmel at 141, Chris Chasteen at 165, Neeko Paris at 125 and Casey Bushong at heavyweight recorded a win.

Manchester is off for the Thanksgiving weekend, but returns to action December 4 and 5 at the Little State Invite, hosted by Trine University.


11.14.09 - POGUE AND ULMER FINISH 2-2 AT WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSON TOURNAMENT
Manchester's wrestling team returned to action Saturday at the Washington and Jefferson Tournament, where Chandler Pogue and Chad Ulmer finished 2-2 on the day to lead the Spartans. No team scores were kept.

Manchester returns to action Saturday at the Concordia (WI) Open.

11.7.09 - POGUE TAKES EIGHTH AT EASTERN MICHIGAN OPEN
Manchester College's wrestling team opened the season Saturday at the Eastern Michigan Open, where freshman Chandler Pogue took 8th place at 157 pounds with a 3-3 record. Chris Chasteen finished 2-2 overall at 165 pounds.

Chuck Holmquest at 125, along w ith Glen Cobb and Josh Freites at 133 pounds recording a win in the tournament.

Manchester returns to action Wednesday at the annual Black and Gold scrimmage and travels to Washington and Jefferson on Saturday.

Fourth-year head coach Matt Burlingame took over a Manchester wrestling program that has earned national recognition and continued success for the last 15 years. Burlingame wrestled at Div. I Virginia Tech, where he was a four-year starter and three-time captain. He graduated 10th on the Hokies’ all-time win list.
  • Cam Brady was named Freshman Wrestler of the Year for 157 pounds in 2011.
  • The Spartans have collected 12 of the last 17 conference crowns.
  • Manchester has nine regional titles and four Top 10 finishes in the NCAA Nationals.
  • In 17 years, 22 Spartan grapplers have been named Athletic All-Americans and 26 have been named Academic All-Americans.
