MC students will direct March 9-11

production of Cyrano de Bergerac

Fabulous Hero! Famous Nose! Alpha Psi Omega, the dramatics honorary society at Manchester College, has chosen the love story Cyrano de Bergerac for its annual production.

Edmond Rostand’s play is about a poetic and brave young guardsman who has a bulbous nose. Certain he could never find a woman to love him, Cyrano uses his talents to help another man capture the heart of his wealthy and beautiful cousin, Roxane.

Directed by senior Steven Grubb of Goshen and junior Will Patch of Otterbein, the student performers take the Wampler Auditorium stage at 7:30 p.m. March 9-11. Tickets at the door are $1 or a canned good for a local food pantry. Reservations are not necessary.

“Alpha Psi Omega always does a student-directed spring play at Manchester,” Grubb said.  “It's up to the students and their peers to make these shows work and it's always a memorable, successful experience.  The completely student-run element gives the actors and directors a different experience than the plays directed by professionals.”

Sophomore David Moan of Goshen is Cyrano, senior Katie Leese of Kokomo is Roxane and first-year student Ryan Deeter of  South Bend is Christian de Neuvillette.

The cast is large, with 38 characters. Other actors:  Fiona Mills-Groninger, Jason Adams, Alicia Smith, Jeff Combs, Pete Dobberstein, Brian Koczan, Eli Hersberger, Heidi Gonyea, Reaunna Murphy, Aaron Hostetler, Nicolas Kauffman, Judith Nicci Small, Jeff Combs, Tedra Tague, Jesse Reid, Rachel McFadden, Allyson Gonzalez, Colleen Hamilton, Breana Lindsay, Andrew Bylsma, Kacie Gauby, Meghan Siroky, Amanda Patch, Megan Leese, Ben Martin, Colleen Hamilton, Tabitha Hufford and Russell Holl.
