Homecoming 2005 schedule

Free concert unites band and choral alumni, students

Manchester College alumni returning for Homecoming this weekend are in for a musical treat – a reunion concert of Symphonic Band, A Cappella Choir and Manchester Choral Society.

The public is invited to the free concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 in Cordier Auditorium. More than 25 choir and band alumni will take the stage with current students for the performances.

The choral groups and band will perform separately and will come together for Let Creation Praise by James Curnow and Christ: Foundation, Head, and Cornerstone by Lloyd Pfautsch, arrangement by MC Choral Director Debra Lynn.

The choral arrangements include a Manchester favorite, The Lord Bless You and Keep You by Peter Lutkin, Ave Maria by Franz Biebl, For the Beauty of the Earth by John Rutter and Ain’t-A That Good News, spiritual arrangement by William Dawson.

The Symphonic Band and Instrumental Ensemble, directed by Suzanne Gindin, will present two fun pieces, Festivo by Vaclav Nelhybel, and Danse Bacchanale by Camille Saint-SaŽns, arranged by Jay Bocook.
