Manchester College has two "Outstanding" competitors at Mock Trial regional

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND (Feb. 16, 2004) - Two Manchester College students posted exceptional achievement - as Outstanding Attorney and Outstanding Witness - last weekend as their Mock Trial teams made a bid for national competition. Two teams represented the North Manchester independent liberal arts college at the South Bend Regional Qualifying Tournament.

MC's Mitchell D. Herniak received the Outstanding Attorney Award with a perfect score of 20. The Elwood, Ind. senior is no stranger to the award: He has claimed it twice before, at national competition. North Manchester sophomore Rachel McFadden received the Outstanding Witness Award with a near perfect score of 19.

Manchester did not move on to the nationals in the 14-school competition that included University of Notre Dame and Michigan State University.

Also on the Manchester College teams were sophomore David R. Tracey of Auburn, Ind.; junior Steven K. Grubb of Goshen, Ind.; senior Benjamin N. Johnson of Hanna, Ind.; first-year student Ashley M. Davis of Logansport, Ind.; junior Tippawan Chukrachang of Lopburi, Thailand; fist-year student Baana C. Veen of Osceola, Ind., sophomore Jonathan R. Grafmiller of Portland, Ind.; junior Stephen W. Case of St. Joe, Ind.; first-year student Stacey Carmichael of South Bend; sophomore James Blake Hike of Syracuse, Ind., and senior Brett Vanlandingham of Wabash, Ind.
