Bands battle at Manchester College
For chance to open Saturday night for Stroke 9
Manchester College is bringing in bands from across the state this weekend for Chet Fest, a battle of the bands that culminates with the victor opening for Stroke 9 on Saturday night.
Sponsored by campus radio station WBKE, the music begins at 8 p.m. Friday, March 11 at The Firehouse teen hangout in downtown North Manchester. Bands from Muncie and even Toledo are competing.
Any band is welcome to “battle” for $10. The event is free with judging by College faculty and staff, students and a representative of The Guitar Infirmary, Chet Fest co-sponsor.
The champion band Friday night opens for Stroke 9 on Saturday night, March 12, in Cordier Auditorium on campus. Formed in the San Francisco Bay area, Stroke 9 has five albums. “Little Black Backpack” hit Billboard pop and alternative charts. Tickets are $10, free for Manchester College students.
“Chet Fest is a great opportunity for students to get together with friends and just listen to good music. It's supporting a local business as well as local talent. It's a great way for students to experiment with their own talent, and just have a wonderful time doing so,” said sophomore Julia Largent, WBKE station manager.
