Provenance:

Received by Archives 28 January 2007.  Delivered by Charles Klingler to Robin Gratz.  Objects had been left with Professor Klingler by David and Alice Wend upon their move to Montana.  Alice (Burke) Wend is the daughter of Eldon Burke.

Biographical/Historical Note:

Eldon Burke graduated from Manchester College in 1922 and was a long-time Manchester College Professor of History.  His photograph in this collection is initialed ERB.

The 1922 Aurora had this caption beside his photograph:Major, History.  A student who drinks deep in every subject he pursues.  Only man at Manchester who ever competed successfully with the ladies as a reader and going the limit in Expression department.  Has almost an insatiable voracity for knowledge.
