"Manchester College, as an arm of the Church of the Brethren, honors those whose names appear below with a 'Laymen's Citation' to recognize the great body of the lay people of our churches, whom they represent, and without whose loyalty, devotion and active service our churches cannot be maintained strong and vital." Those honored in 1955 were: Wilbur Stover Barnhart, Dr. Curtis Buford Bowman, Nevin L. Coppock, Joseph Benjamin Flora, Theo Allen Hoover, Harold Kenneth Loutsenhizer, Thurl Donald Metzger, Dr. Daryl McCoid Parker, F. Willard Powers, Orion J. Stover, Modena Minnich Studebaker, and Daniel West.
Powers, F. Willard F. Powers, Manchester College Class of 1932 and member of the Board of Trustees. Willard's son, Thomas Powers, also attended Manchester College, graduating in 1978.
