Date of Accession
Bio History Note
The date of this photograph is questionable because, if the identifications are correct, the graduation dates are as follows:
L. W. Shultz graduated from Manchester College in 1914
Sadie Stutsman Wample graduated in 1916.
Cordelia Crouch Rhem graduated in 1909.
Charles Light graduated in 1907.
Check this out - mor research is needed - but I seem to remember that Sadie Stutsman left North Manchester for a while to live in Washington, D.C. with her mother and step-father. Sadie later returned to Manchester and graduated in 1916.
Note: The frame contained broken glass and in this condition the piece had to be stored horizontally, the broken glass putting the underlying photographs at risk of damage. Archivist, Jeanine Wine, removed the frame and broken glass on 14 April 2009. It appeared to her as if the frame actually had been gilded. It contained places where the gold foil lapped over the frame's interior edges. The frame was placed in the Archives West Office. Superfluous areas of the cardboard backing board were removed. The area containing writing was kept until the time that further research could be done. The name of Andrew D. Ward Jr? was not clearly written and his relationship to the picture had not yet been determined. Perhaps he had been the professor for the class? Jeanine chose not to remove the pictures from the matting board because they were tightly adhered to the material.
