This is a handbook for the Oak Leaves editor. It begins with:
First let us get this little matter of sinecure straight: you are not put into office by popular acclaim of student election. The administration considers the OAK LEAVES too important a representative of the college to delegate its editorship into possibly inept hands. The editor is chosen by a combination of English department and administration: Professor Conkling, who is the official faculty sponsor of OAK LEAVES considers all applicants for the position and recommends one or two to the administration, usually represented by President Schwalm, who make the final choice from the submitted recommendations.
