Bio History Note
See Pg 56 and 57 in William Eberly's book, "The Story of the Natural Sciences at Manchester College." In 1929, some mastodon bones were found on a farm in Miami County. In hopes of finding more bones from the same animal, an expedition was organized from Manchester College. The team of professors and about 40 students excavated to a depth of about three feet and femoved sixteen ribs, a tusk of ten and a half feet, pelvis bones, six feet wide, and enough smaller bones to bring the total to more than a hundred.
