The Sunday morning fire of April 12,1931 was the second fire to strike Mount Morris College. The first fire occurred in 1912 and the college was subsequently rebuilt. The second fire was so devastating that in the spring of 1932, the Mount Morris College Board of Trustees decided to close the college and merge with Manchester College.
