What is the summer reading?
At New Student Advising and Registration Days
this summer, you will be asked to purchase a discounted copy of The
Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle for $11.00 in the Manchester College Campus
Store.
Read the book in preparation for a discussion
in the first FYC class held during Fall Orientation. The initial
discussion session is a trial run so that students can see how college-level classes work.
A brief study guide
is available for The Tortilla Curtain. The guide focuses on the basic plot
development in the novel. As the course progresses we will expand our
focus and address significant cultural and policy issues developed within the
novel.
