Late in the spring semester, the staff in the office of Academic Support in the Success Center determine how many active tutors will return for service the next calendar school year. After determining the number of new tutors needed, tutors are chosen from applicants for position. Students interested in tutoring should apply for the position using the University's student employment application form on the Human Resources webpage, and solicit recommendations from instructors.
Qualities sought in tutors include maturity, patience and persistence, a desire to serve others and strong academic achievement. The best candidates will be contacted and interested candidates will be invited to interview for position openings.
New and returning tutors are required to attend organizing and training sessions. Two sessions are planned each semester.
