GENERAL EDUCATION CATEGORIES
The distribution of requirements is quite similar for baccalaureate and associate degrees. Language is required for a Bachelor of Arts and fewer courses are required for an Associate of Arts degree. For specific requirements, see the Manchester College Catalog. REQUIREMENTS BY CATEGORIES
First Year Colloquium (FYC), written and oral
communication, mathematics, Western Civilization, a selected course on
Christian tradition, and physical education credits.
Courses in Experiencing the Arts, philosophy,
two courses in the natural sciences and two in the social sciences. Students choose two courses dealing with general cultural connections. Bachelor of Arts students must choose two courses in one language at the intermediate level or higher. An additional course dealing with non-European culture must be taken by all BA and BS degree students. Juniors or seniors take a course which provides an opportunity to apply advanced critical thinking skills to the examination of an interdisciplinary topic. Topics for this course will vary. All students earn credit in the Values, Ideas, and the Arts category by attending weekly convocations and selected events throughout the year.
