Homecoming and Family Weekend 2012 was a great day for Manchester alumni and friends!
Victories for Spartan athletic teams and resilient spirits for Manchester fans and alumni were not to be dampened by sporadic afternoon rain showers. The football team rolled past Earlham in a Spartan scorefest, 45-9, while the men’s and women’s soccer teams and the men’s cross country team also claimed victories. Loyal MU students and alumni cheered all their Spartan athletes to victory, sporting rain slickers in grandstands dotted with black and gold.
The Accounting and Business Reunion packed a tent full of alumni, while Environmental Studies grads and Alumni of Color also reunited for fun, food and fellowship. A football reunion Friday evening in Fort Wayne brought many former players together for the first time in years.
Alumni who hadn’t returned to campus recently were impressed by the new Academic Center during a dedication on Saturday, while some took a tour of the new Fort Wayne campus, home of the College of Pharmacy.
Many energetic students helped to make the event fun for all: A Cappella Choir members sold cotton candy and rewarded their patrons with songs, and student organizations lined the sidewalks to greet guests on their way to the football game.
The Iron Chef Cook-off, Hall of Fame inductions, a Chime concert, great sales at the Campus Store, and an unlimited supply of hot chocolate in the main tent each attracted a crowd, and made for a successful event for all.
Plans are already underway for Homecoming 2013, Oct. 4-5. Mark your calendar!
