Spruce-Up Campus Day
Perhaps you’ve heard you parents, faculty, staff or alumni talk about the days when ol’ MC had a tradition called “Work Day.” That was when all students and faculty took a break from the books and classrooms, replacing them it with shovels, cleaning rags and elbow grease to help make campus shine for May Day. Those memories prompted current staff members to introduce what hopefully will become a new MC tradition: “Spruce-Up Campus Day!”
All staff, faculty and alumni are invited to come to campus for at least two hours on Aug. 14 or Aug. 15 to help spruce up campus for the new school year. Volunteers who work on Wednesday, the 15th, will be treated to lunch.
Teams will clean light fixtures, windows, walls, floors, stairwells, trash cans, carpets, residential halls, entrances, classrooms, the PERC and even the new College Union. Outside, there’s trash to pick up and flowerbeds to weed.
A grateful custodial staff will supply all cleaning supplies. Simply call to sign up for a time slot (6 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day) and show up for duty at the maintenance building. When it’s all over, you’ll be able to say you were part of the first campus-wide spruce-up day! Sign up to join the team—MC needs your help!
