News to know ...
What if weather forces us to cancel classes, or worse? As
long as students reside on campus, we never will “close” campus, of
course. But, if the weather indeed has impacted operation of the
College, we will send out an all-campus e-mail and put the news on our home
page, www.manchester.edu.
AND, we will alert area radio and TV
stations
TV:
Channel 21 (Indiana’s NewsCenter), WANE-TV Channel 15 and Fox
Channel 55 in Fort Wayne; and WNDU TV Channel 16 in South Bend
Radio:
NIPR on WBOI/WBNI, WAJI 95.1, WLDE 101.7, WOWO 1190 in Fort Wayne;
WLZQ (Q101) in Warsaw; WKUZ 95.9 in Wabash
Identity theft e-mail alert. The message claims an
old friend has sent us neat screen saver. Don’t bite. “Please be
aware that if you receive an email such as this or with an
attachment ending in .SCR, do not trust it at all. Accepting
a screen saver will likely cause your machine to be infected and
could lead to the theft of your identity,” warns our ITS leader
Michael Case. Do not
click on the link to read the entire message from your “friend.” Do
not go to the “freeze” website mentioned in the message. Delete.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels praises Manchester for its new
Fast Forward program. Here’s an excerpt of his recent letter to
President Switzer:
“At a time
when colleges are measuring themselves on their six-year graduation
rates, I am especially pleased that Manchester has introduced this
innovative program giving students the opportunity to graduate in
three years … I applaud your program and hope it is successful.”

Wow! Yea!
Kudos You’re
Awesome! Thanks!
It was
New Years Eve day, and water was leaking into Mary Chrastil’s office
in College Advancement, in the garden level of the Administration
Building. Custodians Laura Badgett and Amy Buzzard spotted the drip
(onto Mary’s laptop workstation) and alerted Gary Heckman
(electrician), who zipped over and contained the damage. ITS quickly
substituted the laptop to get Mary back in business. Now THAT’s
teamwork, especially on a busy pre-holiday schedule.
“Thanks
to John Straub (printing
services) for his quick response to my large printing order for
course packets. As usual, I did not give him much lead time ... He
went far and above to see that I received all of my order in time
for the start of January classes. I could not have received this
kind of service with an off-campus print shop! – Nancie Meyer and
the Campus Store staff
(The
packet had several hundred pages.)
