Arline Craven

fill-in for Janina Traxler (French). Arline expects to receive a

Personal development … Please keep the MEMO Lady in the loop
when you and/or your department “do” professional development ..
seminars, workshops, conferences, meetings, retreats, video
conferences, etc. Don’t be shy! Just zip
her an e-mail!
Here are some examples:
Responding to “emotions.” Crysta Borden and Carrie Makin
(human resources) attended a Leadership Luncheon, “Smart Emotions,”
sponsored by Wabash Friends
Counseling Center. They learned helpful
biofeedback information and brief techniques to help identify and
respond to difficult emotions in a positive and productive manner.
Notes Carrie: “I highly recommend these very affordable ($15 with
lunch) training opportunities.” Here’s
the
seminar schedule.
Career Services. Liz Bushnell and Jennifer Fisher presented
Jan. 31 at the Whitley County Human Resource Association about
recruiting, managing and retaining millennial job candidates, like
our students. It was a great opportunity to introduce area HR folks
to Manchester College
and make connections for student internships and job opportunities.
Green buildings how-to. Gary Heckman (electrician/physical
plant) begins classes Feb. 25 in Fort Wayne to prepare for
accreditation with Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED), a
program for rating buildings for environmental “greenness.”

Bainbridge will present research papers to the Indiana Chapter of
the American Fisheries Society (professional aquatic biologists and

Larrew
Lake; Bruce will focus on the Eel River ecosystem.
Avast all ye hands! The Pirates of
Penzance needs a rocky seashore and moonlight and
costume fitting and sundry props-getting and other back-stage aid

will coordinate volunteer painters, builders, stage hands,
costuming, but they need crews! Contact directors
Scott Strode or
Debra Lynn to sign up.
Betty Lou Clark enters Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. The
’80s Lady Spartans coach, who died in a car crash in 1991, was
inducted last month. In 1985-86 and 1986-87 the Lady Spartans won
the Hoosier Conference for Women Championship and she received the
1985 HCW Coach of the Year Award. At Rochester High School from 1976
