At Manchester College, i found A new look! We have a sleek, new home page, and new tabbed feature pages (Current Students, Faculty & Staff, etc.), thanks to webmaster Dan Chudzynski. Featuring our new Find Your Place marketing theme, this is just the beginning of a facelift in process. Questions, suggestions: Dan, x5089.

MC ’73 grad Reed Gratz brings his band with guitarist Geo Conner to convo next Monday, Feb. 26 for a treat for students and us. Reed chairs the music department at University of La Verne and was a student of John Planer and Gary Deavel here. He’s composed music for 12 plays and several films and has several CDs out. Here’s a link to his home page.

A representative from the Bowen Center is on campus tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 21 for free, confidential employee assistance. ,The sessions are 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Calvin Ulrey 206, the  Plowshares Library.

We have an extension, until this Friday, to turn in staff performance evaluations to Human Resources. The snow emergency and other challenges forced rescheduling evaluations for many. Remember to include job descriptions when submitting the evaluations.

Paid time off balances were wrong again on the Feb. 15 paystubs. But hope is on the horizon, reports Crysta Borden (Human Resources), who has been on the phone with ADP daily, arriving at what she hopes is a solution to the ADP error. The paid time off report on our next paychecks will be blank. After a test run, hopefully, our mid-March checks will reflect the correct paid time off balances.

Congratulations to Liz Bushnell, our new director of Career Services. Here since fall 2004, Liz has led our grant-funded student internship program, launched new programs ranging from the new The Candidate blog to internship boot camp, and has counseled hundreds of students in career planning. You may recall that last year, she received the Governor’s Award for Tomorrow’s Leaders. We will seek a new internship program leader.

Oldies but still goodies from recent MEMOs

When roads are bad, faculty and staff trapped in North Manchester may find a room in East or Schwalm residence halls, first-come, first-served through Conference Services. If it's a weather emergency, there is no charge to us. Contact Alexis Young at x5246 or Jeff Kock at x5247 to reserve a room.

We begin Round Table Discussions for faculty and staff to meet with members of the Cabinet on Monday, Feb. 26 … with a discussion about fund-raising for the College hosted by Michael Eastman, vice president for College advancement. We’ll gather 2 to 3 p.m. in Science Center 101 for “Fundraising: It’s All About Cash.” We’ll have a 20-minute presentation, followed by Q & A.
