The
impact of Professor Jim Adams is everywhere at Manchester.
We’ve lost count how many languages he can speak and read, or how
many countries that have served as his classroom, or where all of
his artwork is on campus. We do know he is a true believer of
lifelong learning, of service learning, of the liberal arts. His
students, young and not so young have experienced incredible
opportunities. He helps define
Manchester
College.
And for only one more year, he enables us to proclaim that we are
home to the
2002 U.S. Professor of the Year. Jim retires next spring, but will
remain as an adjunct, on the gallery committee, and undoubtedly as a
tour guide. For more about Jim,

High-fives to Rick Espeset,
Manchester’s
new athletic director. Our nationwide search brought us right back
to our own baseball diamond. Rick follows the footsteps of Tom
Jarman, who retired Sept. 1.

She’s got style, but we knew that! Terri Jones (president’s

Indiana State Fair Fashion Show this month. She created and modeled
a brown wool skirt with a brown tweed Italian wool vest and lined
jacket. She’s a five-time champion at this annual competition, with

Wow! Yea!
Kudos You’re
Awesome! Thanks!
A big thanks to the many groups of individuals who made Opening Day
for new students go so smoothly: Residential Life staff, Health
Services and student health assistants, Safety and Security staff
and student cadets, athletic teams and coaches, Chartwells staff,
Shanon Green (student activities) and Student Orientation Leaders
(SOLs). There are “reports on the street” that this has been the
smoothest opening ever! Even the sun cooperated to make it a great
day. We were a unified team in collaborating and working together to
make our new students and parents feel so welcomed!
“I
called the ITS Helpdesk at 9 a.m. Friday morning, requesting
software be installed on a classroom computer before a 9:30 meeting.
Deb Hustin came to my rescue and got the software
installed just in time. Thank you, Deb! Thanks also to all of our
hard-working ITS staff – we (faculty/staff/students) are demanding
groups and I’m always amazed at the service ITS is able to provide.”

Setting the scene: It’s the weekend, and
telephone guru

to the rescue, Saturday or not! Notes ITS Director Michael Case:
“Larry is a credit to my team
and to the College.”
