Transitions ...

Union conference rooms now have names. Forget the confusing 1,2,3. We’ve named them for our generous donors and the plaques now are in place. We can move the walls and make them one big one, whatever size.

Speicher Room: far left, formerly No. 3, donated by the Paul L. Speicher Foundation (That's the Management Advisory Committee, above, in this room.)

Lahman Room: in the center with two doors, formerly No. 2, donated by The Lahman Family: Robin and Jeanette Miller ’50 Lahman, John R. ’75, David L. ’78, Mary Sollenberger ’76 and Barbara Lahman ’80

Trochu Room: far right, formerly No. 1, donated by Cynthia Hoff '85 Trochu, a member of the Board of Trustees, and John-Louis Trochu

Shepherd Room: by Conference Services, formerly Room 215, donated by Robert and Robin Shepherd

News to know ...

Hold the phone! Until the new phone system is installed, hopefully later this fall, ITS is putting a hold on all phone moves, additions and changes. Such work would impede installation of the new phone system. Of course, emergencies are the exception.

Early Alert has a new name … SuccessNet, to symbolically link to the Success Center and shun negative connotations associated with “alert.” The new address is SuccessNet@manchester.edu, but the old EarlyAlert one still works in case we forget.

This bronze bust of Gladdys Muir overlooks the lounge area atop the stairs to the second floor of the College Union. The College will dedicate the bust, created by Paula Sheller ’55 Adams, at 10:30 a.m. next Wednesday, Sept. 26. Muir founded peace studies at Manchester, the oldest program in the world.

Share your writings … or a favorite read! The Writing Center is hosting an all-campus reading in G Gallery (Union art gallery) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Faculty volunteers are sought for the 3- to 5-minute readings of their own or favorite works. Help give students and others in the MC community a glimpse into the literary lives of our faculty. Everybody invited. To volunteer, contact Devin Becker quickly.

SPSS upgrade available. Version 15 of the data management and statistical analysis software is now installed on all lab PCs – an upgrade from what faculty probably have on their office computers. For your upgrade, contact the ITS Help Desk. Minitab also is available from ITS and on lab PCs.

Update those web pages! As we all help recruit students, it’s important that they find current information on our web pages. Check your departmental pages and links for current calendars and staff members. Those who need help updating their pages should contact webmaster Dan Chudzynski.

Manchester College … around the clock. We are working on a “Day in the Life of Manchester College” photo package for Manchester Magazine and need your great suggestions! Accounting students studying in the library at 10 p.m., books spread all about … … future teachers practicing on wee ones at 10 a.m. … chime ringing at 7:50 a.m. … team practice … Send us your ideas, we’ll snap the pix, anytime, anywhere! Tell Jeri Kornegay, x5285.
