News to know ...

Health plan enrollment meetings are Thursday, Nov. 29. Learn about the plans and changes, receive enrollment forms and HSA and Flex payroll deduction forms. All must be returned to HR by Dec. 14. The one-hour meetings Thursday are in Flory Auditorium, at 11 a.m. and 3:30  p.m. Failure to complete and submit the forms could lead to cancellation of health benefits. Unable to attend a meeting Thursday? Contact Crysta Borden x5288.

T.Q. Evans, professor emeritus of sociology, died Nov. 18. He was deeply committed to racial and social justice and worked for years to bring alumni of color back to campus to speak in classes. “The College was strengthened by his steady persistence to help us live respectfully across differences,” said President Switzer. A memorial service begins at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 in the Timbercrest Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to T. Quentin Evans Scholarship Fund, in care of the College or to Timbercrest Senior Living Community.

Didn’t get your flu shot? There’s still time! Flu vaccines are available at Health Services (call for an appointment, x5306) or go to the Flu Clinic in The Oaks coffee shop. Shots cost $13; make checks payable to Manchester College. Here’s the Flu Clinic schedule:

Wednesday, Nov. 28, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 6, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Seatbelts … are your passengers using them? A reminder to drivers of College vans and vehicles that seatbelt use is critical for the safety of our students and employees … and is the law.

We all should have our new phones now, with directories of employees. Here’s the online directory. If you do not have a new phone, and are supposed to receive one, contact the Help Desk. The new phones work for everything except placing calls to old campus phones and receiving calls from off campus. The message-waiting light only works on the old phones. The official change-over is Dec. 5, overnight. Voicemail works for both. SIGN UP FOR YOUR TRAINING SESSION.
