Halloween at Manchester. Our students open their residence hall homes to children of the community from 6 to 8 p.m. next Wednesday, Oct. 29. Here’s the story.

Midsemester grades due 5 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 27. MCConnect is available through 4:30 p.m. today.

A Sense of Place and Electroacoustic Music … a presentation by Korean composer Suk Jun Kim begins at 10 a.m. today, Monday, Oct. 27 in Wine Recital Hall. (VIA credit). Kim’s music mainly focuses on the sense of places that are fantastic, imaginary, magical and realistic, in which listeners can visit, stop by, and dwell. His music has been performed worldwide and can be heard on ICMC, IMEB and SEAMUS labels and M&R.

Kenapocomocha and jazz. Sounds like a great combo, doesn’t it? A few College musicians will play for about an hour on Friday night, Nov. 21 at the downtown coffee shop. Thanks to pianist and jazz director Tim Reed for coming up with this great experience for our students.

Shopping! Chicago! The Alumni Association’s annual bus trip to the Loop for Christmas shopping (or whatever we want to do) is Thursday, Dec. 4. The bus leaves campus at 8 a.m. (Warsaw stop, too) and leaves Chicago at 6:30 p.m. (our time). Save gas, save tolls, leave the driving hassle to the Alumni Association. $40. Tim Reed’s electroacoustic work, "Roberto" was selected for performance at the 7th annual "ElectroAcoustic Music Macomb" concert Nov. 12 at Western Illinois University in Macomb. The concert celebrates National Electroacoustic Music Month.

Three MC exercise/sport sciences students joined more than 100 undergraduates from six states for the Midwest Student Leadership Conference of the Midwest District of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance on Oct. 9-11: Chelsea Bower ‘10, Kalie Carlisle ‘10, Melanie DeGrandchamp ’09. DeGrandchamp now is president of the Council for Future Professionals and Bower was named Outstanding Student of the district. Kim Duchane sponsored the students and participated.

Oldies but goodies from past MEMOs...

All-College Meeting … our semi-annual meeting when we all come together is Thursday, Nov. 6, in Flory Auditorium, Science Center. We begin promptly at 4 p.m. for the one-hour session. On the agenda is a Board of Trustees meeting update, review of strategic priorities, successes and challenges, planning, fund-raising and THE budget.

All-Staff Meetings bring us together for updates, celebrations of service and connections. Here’s the 2009 schedule:
