Dr. Jill Long Thompson leaving

Manchester College for D.C. think tank

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (July 16, 2003) - Former U.S. Rep. Jill Long Thompson is the new CEO of the National Center for Food and Agricultural Policy in Washington, D.C.  Her responsibilities there begin August 1

She served the past year in the Mark E. Johnston Chair of Entrepreneurship at Manchester College and has assisted in seminars and training for the Manchester Institute.

 "This is an impressive appointment to a think tank that helps the nation shape policies that affect the entire world," said Jo Young Switzer, vice president and dean of academic affairs at Manchester College. "I am thankful Manchester College students, faculty and staff had the opportunity to learn from and work with Dr. Thompson during the year she was here."

Long Thompson served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana's 4th Congressional District (1989-95). She also served more than five years as U.S. Under Secretary of Agriculture (1995-2001).
