Part of putting students first is preparing them to serve others and improve the human condition. As with all programs at Manchester, this emphasis will also be
felt in the College of Pharmacy. While largely
supported by a generous gift from Lilly Endowment Inc., the School seeks resources to develop service learning opportunities, curriculum enrichment and outreach programs that will benefit the entire community.

Goal: $36 Million

I hope to live in such a way
that my life is a witness.
I want to show people
that small acts of caring
can have a great effect.

– Sam Ott ’13

“The College of Pharmacy extends our mission to graduate pharmacists of ability and conviction. Pharmacy is strengthening the North Manchester campus in many ways - by increasing our number of strong science majors, adding revenue to our operational budgets, and opening up new urban opportunities for our undergraduate students in other majors.” - Jo Young Switzer, president

Manchester has long been a leader in preparing science students for medical school, other professional schools or research careers. The University has elevated that great reputation by opening northern Indiana’s first school of pharmacy in August 2012. With its four-year doctoral degree, Manchester joins Purdue and Butler universities as one of only three schools of pharmacy in the state.

A generous gift of $35 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. enabled Manchester to construct a state-of-art teaching and research facility at Interstate 69 and Dupont Road in Fort Wayne and have a high-quality faculty in place before the school opened.

Students First!seeks an additional $1 million for the College of Pharmacy to provide service-learning opportunities, curriculum enrichment and outreach programs that will benefit the entire community. A wide variety of naming opportunities are available to donors, including the building, a drug information center, a science library, classrooms, laboratories, conference rooms, offices and student spaces.

The Manchester University College of Pharmacy is a logical next step for a university whose graduates developed Teflon®, discovered the existence of acid rain in North America and pioneered award-winning research in solar technology. Manchester science alumni also include a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry and the first woman to head the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

With the College of Pharmacy, Manchester has established a tangible presence in Allen County. The school is invigorating the area’s economy, and enhancing the region’s health care and life sciences industries.
